  • Why would somebody want to purchase an extra lot?

I live in a subdivision. When I bought the house, it was the last one in the subdivision but they have since built on. I ended up with a huge yard and extra lot. I get calls and texts several times a week of people asking to buy the extra lot. I don’t understand why anyone would want to buy it or how it would work. The land is now between houses. Can you tell me why anyone would want to buy an extra lot in the middle of a neighborhood?

  • How can i get out of a buyers agreement?

I met with an agent, explained I didn't want a long term agreement, maybe till school was out, as I was only looking at size, areas, prices right now. She said standard was 6 mo. I said I preferred shorter, she said it's what we agree too ( as in she and I make our own terms). I signed the agreement, ask for a copy, she said she would scan then in and email it to me. 10 days later, I'm requesting a copy again. She gave me an excuse for not getting it to me. When I received it, it said 6 mo. Not what I requested. I then questioned her and she said no less than 6 mo as that was what all their office's do. But it was to late to redo the time on it. I don't want to work with her. She will not get my listing, nor will her office. But she says I'm locked in until after the 6 mo. Which means the fall and I can't sell in the fall, it will be off season for selling a family home.

  • Should I use my friend as my realtor?

I have a good friend that's a realtor. I really like her as a friend, but I'm worried about working with her. I think it could change our dynamic and might ruin the friendship. That said, I also think if I choose a different realtor, she could be so hurt that it ruins the friendship. What should I do?

  • Can I get a loan without escrow?

I don't like that my loan automatically has this forced escrow account. Can't I just pay my property taxes myself? I'd rather I kept all that money myself so that I can get interest on it rather than just put it in the account that my mortgage company has and it sits there.

  • Is there escrow with buying a house and a loan?

Ok. I'm buying a home and they're talking about the escrow. Then the loan officer is talking about how I need escrow. So is it all the same? Or are these different escrows? And what does that even mean?

I'm looking in an area with a mix of unincorporated and incorporated properties. Literally on the same street there's a mix. I'm wondering if unincorporated has lower taxes and that's a benefit? Or is it better to pay more and be incorporated. Does it even matter? They all feed into the same school. What would the difference be between incorporated and unincorporated property.

  • Canceling A real estate investment company?

I'm trying to get a real estate investment company canceled. They haven't done any work to try to sell the home or spent any money on listing. It alls I have is an agreement on purchase price and a 90-day agreement. I do not want to work with this company. They were not honest and what they were telling me over the phone. They pressured me in signing an agreement to list my home and found out things in the agreement were not as they claim. I have reached out to them several times to terminate with them and they will not respond. Can I terminate them after the 90 days business days are up? I am not interested in working with this company and I will not be forced to work with them and I am not selling them my home. I just don't know where to turn from here.

Would it be possible to use a current condominium as collateral to purchase (trade up) to a second condo with the idea of moving from the first one to the second condo? The reason I ask is because I would like to move to Springfield, IL, but may have to settle for the Champaign-Urbana area if nothing materializes in Springfield over a specific time-frame. If I bought a property in Champaign, I would look to transition to Springfield as soon as a desirable property was available. Thanks for your time.

  • Is land a good investment?

We've wanted to buy a second home with the hope of renting it, but financially that is out of reach right now. So, we're considering buying land and just waiting to build until we have the finances to do so. I know it wouldn't give us an income like a rental, but it's also something we can afford and would hopefully gain value over time. Worst case, we would sell it in the future. So, is land a good investment?

We're selling our house. Can we ask that the inside of our house not be photographed? We're private people and don't want photos of our house or our kids rooms floating around or put on social media. We have professional listing photos, and would prefer that any potential buyer refer to those. We could even compromise and allow personal photos after an offer is put in.
