I paid my realtor money to help fix my credit?

I paid my realtor money to help fix my credit last year in October 2022. Fast forward 7 months later there has been no change in my credit score and now my realtor is not responding to calls emails and text messages. I'm not sure what to do next as I am out this money I paid as my bank will not dispute the transaction due to it being past the dispute expiration date.

Kendall, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this probably something you have to accept as not being successful and moving on. First, realtors are not credit repair specialists, so this realtor most likely had no formal qualifications to do this. Second, credit repair is VERY tricky. If the defaults and issues are a fault of your own, it is VERY rare to get these removed from your credit report. Credit repair, most often, is geared toward errors on your credit. I wish you the best of luck with your situation. Keith Jean-Pierre Managing Principal The Dapper Agents Operations In: NY, NJ, FL & CA

What you're describing is a serious problem, and it goes beyond bad service. Realtors are not licensed to provide credit repair services, and charging for them is likely a violation of both real estate licensing law and the Credit Repair Organizations Act. This needs to be reported. File a complaint with your state's real estate licensing board. They investigate agent misconduct and have authority to discipline or revoke licenses. You can also file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Neither of those gets your money back directly, but they create an official record and can lead to consequences for the agent. For recovering the money, consult with a consumer protection attorney. Many work on contingency for cases like this, meaning no upfront cost to you. What this agent did may give you grounds for a civil claim. Don't let this go unreported. Someone else is likely in the same situation.
