Should I sell ? Where would I go? Should I repaint/carpet?

Husband 75 yrs. Alzheimer's. No long term care insurance. ONLY income SS. I'M 70 this year. Kidney disease. But much equity in home. Low interest HUD loan but townhouse association dues is expensive now. 26 yr old house. Needs bedrooms re- carpeting. 6k+. No neutral wall colors-Need to be large paint job. Paint job. Partial is about $10,000 minimum. More than that to get neutral colors which we don't want to live with. Our youngest adult child has epilepsy since he was a young child, and other severe diseases, and at 39 years old cannot move out, and we typically have at least one grandchild with us almost full-time. Therefore we cannot downsized any type of senior living, assisted or otherwise. We have talked with many elder care attorneys but it's time to call again and talk to us quite a few realtors and many financial planners and everybody has told us that we can't afford to live here but we can't afford to live anywhere else and we would get about half the space for far more money due to interest rates and also large moving costs. We have to make a decision now and even though we're in debt to get the carpet done because it's unmanageable and some of the paint and don't know how to proceed. No appreciable savings. Lost everything in a corporate take over years ago

Do I really need to do all the repairs and staging my real estate agent recommends?

My agent gave me a massive checklist of things to do before we list, including painting the entire interior, replacing the carpets, and renting professional staging furniture. I understand wanting the house to look nice, but this is going to take a lot of time and upfront cash. How do I decide which of their suggestions are actually necessary to sell the house versus just nice to have?

Is it better to replace old carpet with new carpet or upgrade to hardwood before selling?

The carpet in our bedrooms and upstairs hallway is stained and worn out from our dogs. We definitely need to replace the flooring before listing the house. New carpet is much cheaper, but I know buyers love hard surface floors these days. Will spending the extra money on luxury vinyl plank or hardwood actually pay off at closing?

Should we replace our worn carpets with luxury vinyl plank before selling?

The carpets in our upstairs bedrooms are over ten years old and show some wear from pets. We have hardwood on the main floor and are debating whether to put down fresh carpet or upgrade to luxury vinyl plank (LVP) upstairs. Do I need to replace the carpet?

Our carpet is about 10 years old. Our agent is telling us we need to replace it, but we'd rather not spend $3,500 or so replacing the carpet. We have kids and a dog, but the carpet doesn't have obvious stains or anything. It has normal wear from daily life. Is is really worth it to replace the carpet? Will we get more than $3,500 in value or will our house really sell better?

Do I need to replace the bedroom carpets with hard flooring to get the best offers?

The main living areas of my Florida home have tile, but all four bedrooms have older wall-to-wall carpeting. We had the carpets professionally cleaned, but they still show some wear. I am considering ripping them out and putting in luxury vinyl plank to match the rest of the house. Is it better to just offer a flooring allowance, or do buyers expect move-in ready floors?

Buying a house with a crack foundation?

The house of my dreams is for sale and has been on the market for 6 months. I finally went to see it and I want to buy it but I think the reason it has been on the market for so long is because it has a cracked foundation. They are selling as is. How much will it cost to fix that? Is it worth buying the house with a cracked foundation if it is my dream home!
