My home is in a great neighborhood, but the kitchen and bathrooms haven't been updated since the late nineties. I don't have the cash on hand to do a major remodel right now. I'm wondering if buyers will overlook the outdated features because of the location, or if I should delay selling for a year to save up for renovations.
We have outgrown our starter home and have built up a good amount of equity over the past five years. We really need an extra bedroom and a bigger yard for our growing family. However, giving up our current low mortgage rate makes us hesitant to make a move right now. How do families decide when the need for space outweighs keeping a great rate?
My neighbor just put up a huge privacy fence that’s actually six inches onto my property line. I’m planning to sell my house in a few months. Do I need to make them move it before I list, or can I just tell the new buyers where the real line is?

My agent says I have to move all my 'clutter' into a storage unit and paint my deep purple kitchen beige if I want top dollar. Is staging really that important in a hot market, or is she just trying to make her job easier?
Me and my ex-husband are selling our house, but we can't agree on a price. He wants to list it high and wait, but I want it gone now. Can the real estate agent pick a price for us, or do we have to go to mediation just to get the thing on the market?
I bought solar panels last year and I'm still paying them off. If I sell my house, does the new buyer have to take over my monthly payments, or do I have to pay off the whole $25,000 balance at the closing table?
I have been saving up for a year, but the housing market in my area is getting more expensive. I heard there might be state or local grants that can help with the upfront costs. How do I find out if I qualify for these programs, and do they restrict what kind of house I can buy?
My spouse and I are retiring in about two years and want to move into a smaller, single-story condo. Our current home is quite large and becoming difficult to maintain. We are trying to figure out if we should sell now and rent temporarily, or just hold off until we are completely ready to purchase the new place.
A few years ago, my husband and I completely gutted and remodeled our master bathroom ourselves, including moving some plumbing lines. We never pulled permits for the work because we didn't think we needed to for an interior project. Now we are preparing to sell and I am terrified this is going to come up during the inspection or appraisal. What is the best way to handle this with potential buyers?

My offer on a house in Ohio was just accepted, and I used a pre-approval letter from a local bank. However, a mortgage broker I spoke with earlier just called back offering a significantly lower interest rate and fewer origination fees. We are scheduled to close in about 35 days. Am I locked in with the original bank since their name was on the pre-approval letter submitted to the seller, or is it safe to switch without risking my earnest money?
