How do I make a competitive offer on a home without overpay?

How do I make a competitive offer on a home without overpaying? The market is so tough right now and it's hard to get a home. I want to make an offer that will be accepted, but I also don't want to regret overpaying.

Safest way would be to use an escalation clause in your contract. Best of luck! Keith Jean-Pierre Managing Principal The Dapper Agents Operations In: NY, NJ, FL & CA

When working with a licensed real estate agent, he/she will provide comparable homes that have recently sold so that you can come up with a reasonable offer. Your agent can advise you on a price range but ultimately the choice is yours. Best of luck!

Great Question! Finding an understanding and knowledgeable Realtor is going to be your first step. A real estate agent can run a market analysis to show you the numbers based on facts - not opinions about what the home is worth. Additionally, the home will go through an appraisal process to help you understand the value of the home. If you make an offer on a home that you are financing, an appraisal can protect you. Let me know if you want to discuss things further. Good luck!
