How do I know if the market is right for selling my property?

What should I know about 55+ communities?

I am thinking about buying a home in a 55+ community. I am a widow and want a place with no stairs and some older people that I can get to know. I am a little worried about resale for my kids and also if all of the fees etc. are going to be too much for me. Are 55+ communities a good idea or should I look more at a condo in a large building that leans older? Thank you.

Should I fix up my house before contacting a real estate agent?

My home in Austin has some dated bathrooms and minor cosmetic wear and tear. I am torn between doing some DIY upgrades now or waiting to see what a professional recommends. Do agents usually prefer to see the house in its raw state to advise on what actually adds value? I do not want to waste time and money on repairs that will not help it sell.

Should we sell our large family home before or after we retire?

My wife and I are about two years away from retirement and want to downsize to a smaller townhouse. Our current house is quite large and the property taxes in our New Jersey suburb are getting heavy. We aren't sure if it makes more sense to sell while we are still employed to make qualifying for our next mortgage easier, or wait until we actually retire so we don't have to move twice. Has anyone navigated this timeline recently?

What exterior remodeling projects provide the best curb appeal for a quick sale?

The inside of our home is in great shape, but the outside looks a little tired and weathered. We have old vinyl siding, an outdated front door, and overgrown landscaping. I know first impressions are everything when buyers pull up to the driveway. What are the most effective exterior upgrades we can tackle to make the house stand out in listing photos and in person?
