The sun is always shining in Santee, no marine layer, crime is low as is homelessness. The schools are great and there is that small town feel.

Santee is where I live! I love this area of San Diego County. We are located at the beginning of East County with access to 3 freeways: Hwy 67, 52 and the 125. Easy access to all parts of San Diego, and just 20 min to La Jolla Beaches! If you love hiking and fishing, check out Santee Lakes and Mission Trails Regional Park! Also Stowe Trail! The city if focused around a Town Center, which has everything from big box stores like WalMart and Costco, to local restaurants as well as other chain/ corporate businesses and restaurants. Minutes to Parkway Plaza Mall for movies and shopping and a 20-30 min to drive to Downtown San Diego. Homes were built in the mid 60s to mid 80s. And we have a few newer developments build after 2000. Santee has a great school district and two High Schools: West Hills and Santana. Being an incorporated City, they often plan events in the town center, lighting of the Christmas Tree, music events, etc.
