I sell in Aripeka and across Hernando County, so here is the version I give clients rather than the brochure one. Aripeka is tiny and coastal, and it trades unlike anywhere else in the county. Inventory is scarce, parcels are irregular, and a lot of what makes a property valuable here does not show up in a listing photo. Water access, elevation, and how a parcel sits relative to the marsh matter more than square footage. Flood is the central question. Coverage, elevation, and the history of the specific parcel should all be on the table before you write, because they set your carrying cost for as long as you own it. Financing is worth raising early too. Unusual coastal parcels sometimes do not fit a conventional box cleanly, and it is far better to learn that in a first conversation than after inspection. If you want old Florida on the water, Aripeka is one of the last places nearby offering it. Go in with the flood and financing answers in hand. By Kevin Neely, Florida real estate license SL3518624. Aripeka, located on Florida's Nature Coast, is a blend of history and natural charm. The 120-acre town is enveloped by Gulf waters, marshes, a sandhill preserve, and two natural freshwater springs. Situated about two miles west of U.S. 19, Aripeka spans both Hernando County (via Osowaw Boulevard) and Pasco County (via Aripeka Road, also known as County Road 595). The South Hammock Creek Bridge serves as the boundary between the two counties. The creek, an inlet from the Gulf, is crossed by a bridge that accommodates two vehicle lanes and provides fishing spots. According to Eric, a young fisherman I met on the bridge, you can catch snapper, redfish, and snook there. However, in the shallow, murky waters, I observed pinfish, needlefish, and mullet.
