After receiving a corporate buyout of his eight-office real estate business in Perth, Australia, Lawrie, his wife and their three children traveled the entire USA in a motorhome for two years and visited 44 states. Falling in love with Lake Norman, the Lawrences decided to settle in Mooresville. Lawrie went about doing what he does best and set up a boutique agency on Brawley School Road. Many agents do not invest substantially in their listings and do little more than put a sign in the front yard and list the home on MLS. Lawrie takes a much more proactive and aggressive position with his listings which typically achieves 200-300% more showings. He firmly believes a new listing is playing in a race against time. "We average 26 showings on a home before we sell the property. If you don't market aggressively and take 6 or more months to achieve that many showings, you run the risk of the listing going stale in the marketplace and buyers questioning what is wrong with this home. It progressively gets harder to get offers once you have been on the market for a long time and any offer then tend to be lower as buyers perceive the listing is not as desirable and ask why it's still on the market."
