About Alex Tower Sears

I came to Annapolis in 1969 and have lived downtown most of my life. I attended local schools (Annapolis Elementary, Severn, Annapolis High School and Key) and I married my high school sweetheart, a true Annapolitian, and we have three wonderful, fun girls- one in high school and two in college. When I was in high school, I took a vocational test that recommended I become a real estate agent because of my interests and my self-reported strengths. When I graduated from The University of Maryland, I sold real estate until I got married and my husband and I moved to Daytona Beach so he could study at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. It was a challenge finding a job in Daytona with an English Literature degree and I ended up teaching 2nd & 3rd grade and working at the local board of REALTORS. My experience as a teacher (the hardest job I EVER had!) lead me to social work. When my husband graduated from Embry-Riddle, he took a job at GE Aircraft Engines in Cincinnati, Ohio. I got my first graduate degree (an MEd in Counseling) at Xavier University in Cincinnati. I worked in social work for several years until GE downsized the plant and my husband was laid off. We returned to Annapolis with our 6 month old daughter, Isabel, and I returned to social work working with children and families in in-home family preservation therapy and foster care. We had two more daughters, Daisy and Georgia Grace and I got my 2nd graduate degree from The University of Maryland, a Masters in Social Work. I worked for the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services for several years before my mother asked me to return to real estate and become her partner. In the beginning, I only worked part time but I found the high school career test was right! I loved real estate and was good at it. I found my not-so-direct-path to real estate had given me some skills and experience that are really helpful in real estate. Real estate has its ups and down. It is challenging but it is also exciting. I like to work hard and I love to sit at the settlement table with happy buyers and sellers. I am grateful to work with my parents and have a good time and success selling in all markets. I can't imagine doing anything else.

Absolutely outstanding experience with Alex and her team from start to finish. We bought and sold our first home in Annapolis working with her mother, Barbara Tower, a local real estate icon. Alex carries on her mothers exceptional legacy. She and her team are the consummate professionals, they know the local market very well and they were a pleasure to work with. Alex Tower Sears provided excellent, and patient support throughout our extended search and then purchase of the perfect house for my wife and me as searched for a one-story, easily accessible home that we quickly fell in love with. She is a good listener, a straight shooter, always available, and also worked with us as we went through getting a mortgage.
