**5 out of 5** As a local REALTOR® serving Los Fresnos and the surrounding Rio Grande Valley, I consider Los Fresnos one of the areas buyers should definitely explore when looking for a home in Cameron County. Los Fresnos has a small-town atmosphere while still being conveniently located near Brownsville, Harlingen, Port Isabel, and South Padre Island. The area offers a nice variety of real estate, from established neighborhoods and newer subdivisions to homes on larger lots, acreage, and properties along the resacas. One thing I recommend to buyers moving to Los Fresnos is to look beyond just the city limits. The 78566 area covers a large area, and the type of property, utilities, flood zone, taxes, and commute can vary depending on the location. Having a local agent who understands these differences can be especially helpful. Los Fresnos also continues to see residential growth while maintaining much of its South Texas character. Buyers have access to local parks and recreation, and larger shopping, dining, employment, and entertainment areas are only a short drive away. Overall, I highly recommend considering Los Fresnos for buyers who want more space, a smaller community, and convenient access to several of the Rio Grande Valley's major destinations.
