But Deborah is in a completely different league, and we feel so lucky to have worked with her. If you're buying on Orcas Island, there is no substitute for working with an agent who really knows the island, and Deborah's knowledge goes well beyond listings. She has a deep, lived-in familiarity that only comes from being a longtime local: the distinct character of different regions of the island, the history of local builders, and the practical realities of island living that might catch newcomers off guard. We came in with a lot to learn, and Deborah was endlessly patient, informative, and made us feel genuinely welcome. She also took the time to understand who we were and what we were looking for, which meant she could tell us not just what a property was, but whether it was actually right for us. Throughout the process we never felt pressured to make a move or a decision, and always felt that her priority was our comfort and certainty. ZillowVERIFIED Deb did an amazing job helping my spouse and I with our land purchase. She initially worked with us to tour multiple properties that didn't quite match our criteria. She carefully listened to our criteria and how each one didn't match our unique needs (e.g. well drained soil, high solar potential, minimal exposure to pesticides and mining, etc). After which she was quite capable of vetting properties for us remotely and providing clear information on these metrics to help us make such an informed decision we felt safe to purchase sight unseen. For the property we opted to purchase she even sent video and solar information to us about the property, alongside geo studies confirming the soil composition matched our needs. Deb was delightfully honest and shared pros and cons about each property we considered. She made the closing process seamless and easy and even made some excellent recommendations for architects and builders to connect with in the area. Lastly, everyone on Orcas Island unanimously agreed Deb is a wonderful human and the most moral realtor in the area. We highly recommend her.

I did my first ever real estate transaction with Deb and she was so kind, patient and knowledgeable throughout the whole process. We were looking to buy on the less expensive side of the Orcas Real Estate Market, but Deb never once brushed us off, and gave us so much of her time and attention. She is so genuine and really sincerely cares about the people she helps buy/sell property. Every time we are on the island we try and stop by her office and say hi because she is just that kind of person. I especially loved that Deb never did the hard sell- she understood quickly the type of property we wanted and over a period of around 6 months helped us find it. In addition to being such a pleasure to work with, Deb knows her stuff. The fact that she has experience working with contractors gave us a really good sense of what was/wasnt possible for our property in our price range. ZillowVERIFIED Deb was our real estate agent in 2018 and helped us to find and purchase our property on Orcas Island. I absolutely recommend her services whether selling or buying a property. We were both somewhat nervous about purchasing raw land, as the flow of that is unlike buying a traditional home. Land may be on the market a bit longer. Also there are contingencies that must be cleared. Deb guided us through the entire thing from visiting multiple properties, to really narrowing our search to the ones that matched our goals. Deb herself has purchased land and built a home on the Island so she understands the many steps of the process. Her real expertise was when we actually made our offer on the land and the seller accepted. She crafted a sales agreement that represented our interests as the buyer. She explained to us the contingencies to get us to closing and the timeline. She consulted us on the many services available such as well testing, and septic review.
