Buying a new home was something we had never done before. My husband I are retired seniors, he is a disabled Vietnam veteran. He came home sick and has suffered the results of that war for 50 years. I too am disabled, we love, look after and care for each other. Our new home will be our safe place, a new gentle home to rest out our years. I started first by finding Veterans United to get information on how to start. They were very helpful and informative, and through them we were introduced to Troy Doty. First I have to admit we didn't know he owned his agency. We thought he was a dedicated hard working agent. From the start he didn't speak to us like he was doing business and he didn't treat us like we were old and easy to placate. Troy took all of our information, both personal and in what we needed, to begin. But that was just the beginning. Troy sent me listings and we had our kids check them out. With his help we found a nicely maintained, partially renovated home that has all we need and some extras that we are so excited about. There's a lovely sunroom where I can grow my dwarf citrus trees and tropical plants. My husband always wanted a big garage to do his hobbies in. He will have lots of room for woodworking. It eases the PTSD he endures. There's a nice yard where he can ride his mower and plant all of the flowers I love. But it didn't stop when we found the house. That's when Troy took over all of the business of buying a home that we didn't know how to do. He negotiated for us, digging into the history and making sure there were no surprises. He investigated a relationship the owners had for solar service. He gathered ALL of the information, instructions and stacks of helpful guidance on the smart system, water purification and all of the updates made. He advised us and arranged for the inspectors and appraisers we chose. Troy held our hands and took away some of the fears that we had. He took a few days away with his kids but was always in touch and taking care of our needs. Even at times when I know my constant questions and anxiousness would have driven me crazy, Troy was cheerful and reassured us thats what he's here for. We would not have been able to buy our home without Troy. He is still in touch, making sure we're OK and have everything we need.
