Very disappointing experience with Rocket Mortgage. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering their mortgage services clarify exactly when a hard credit inquiry will occur. I initially worked with loan officer Jenna under the understanding that we were completing a preliminary prequalification process. My understanding was that a hard credit inquiry would be necessary when we decided to move forward with formal preapproval. While my business partner and I were still gathering the requested financial documents, Rocket Mortgage conducted a hard inquiry on September 10 without clearly communicating the timing to me. When I raised my concerns, Jenna apologized over the phone for the miscommunications that may have happened and it was unclear. I escalated the matter to Juliea Robinson from Rocket Mortgage’s resolution department. After reviewing the call recordings, Juliea concluded that the inquiry was justified because Jenna had mentioned a hard inquiry during our initial conversation and I had responded with “okay.” My acknowledgment that a hard inquiry would eventually be necessary was apparently interpreted as agreement to proceed, even though I did not understand that the inquiry would happen before we completed the requested documentation. Juliea also stated that a preapproval letter had been printed on September 8, but I had not received one before the inquiry. When I requested the original call recording to understand how my response had been interpreted, Rocket refused to provide it. What disappointed me most was not simply the credit inquiry but the lack of transparency and accountability when I raised a legitimate concern. I ultimately decided not to move forward with Rocket Mortgage because I no longer felt confident in their communication or process. A mortgage is a major financial decision, and customers deserve clear explanations before actions affecting their credit are taken. Unfortunately, this experience completely undermined my trust in Rocket Mortgage.

Angelina and the Rocket Mortgage team was amazing throughout my home-buying journey. She was knowledgeable, responsive, and always willing to answer any questions. I had the pleasure of working with Tracy and his team for my first ever home purchase. Every step of the way, Tracy was there to explain what was happening and how to proceed. He would always offer me various options and the thing I appreciated the most is he never once pushed me into one way or the other and saw the positive in every option. He was so patient with me, especially when there was a small set back and I had to stop the house hunting for a bit. He understood and followed up with me later and would check in, never expressing frustration with me. The entire loan process was very straightforward and I personally never had complications and I scored a really great interest rate with his help. Again, huge kudos to Tracy and his team!
