I sell in Inverness and across Citrus County, so here is the version I give clients rather than the brochure one. Inverness is the county seat, and it has something most of the Nature Coast does not: a working downtown with the Tsala Apopka chain and the Withlacoochee trail right there. That combination sets the market apart from the coastal side of Citrus. Lakefront here is its own category. Chain access is not uniform, water levels move with the season, and two parcels that both say lakefront can offer very different use. I want a client to see the water before assuming what it does. Away from the lakes, you get a wider spread of age and construction than people expect, from mid-century in town to newer product further out. The inspection priorities shift with that, and so does the insurance quote. If downtown access and the trail are what you are buying, say so early. It narrows the search considerably and saves a lot of driving. By Kevin Neely, Florida real estate license SL3518624. Real experiences from people who call Inverness home.
By Bruce Brunk Here in Citrus County, there are plenty of fun ways to get a breath of fresh air with the ones we love. These are some great wildlife areas that we can't get enough of, just to name a few: Three Sisters Springs Instead of staying indoors over the weekend, I've been trying my best to get the family out into nature to get some exercise along with fresh air. There are plenty of local places that offer some fun and adventure for your family, and the natural beauty of these springs makes a perfect "˜daycation' site. We may take it for granted, but people travel from all over to see this breathtaking area. Three Sisters Springs is the gem of the Crystal River area. This refuge includes a boardwalk with multiple areas to view manatees in a natural environment. You cannot beat the natural serenity of this park! Bring an underwater camera and soak it all up. Withlacoochee State Trail If you want a nature-filled area that really immerses you in the outdoors, this is the spot to visit. This 46-mile trail is crammed full of different biomes, such as river lands, woodlands, and prairie areas. Plus, there is always something new to see in the wildlife! Getting to walk around these natural paths always makes that day a little bit brighter. With a generally flat terrain and many access points, the trail is an ideal venue for all skill and fitness levels of cycling, running, walking and skating. An unpaved equestrian trail parallels portions of the paved trail. The trail corridor traverses three counties (Citrus, Hernando and Pasco), offering an enjoyable, varied journey as it runs through small towns, ranches and six distinct natural communities between Citrus Springs and Dade City. Be sure to give these beautiful views a bit of your time, as this pocket of nature will make you forget that you are anywhere near a city. Cooter Pond Park This is an area with nice trails that are sure to give you a breath of fresh air! The real draw is the wildlife, however, because this place is practically an outdoor sanctuary. This park provides an important habitat for wildflowers, insects, alligators and of course, the cooter turtle. These plants and critters are a beautiful part of Citrus County's wildlife, so consider it a fun challenge to spot as many of them as you can whenever you visit. If you are looking for a scenic setting to enjoy a picnic lunch or just want to take a stroll and observe the natural surroundings, Cooter Pond Park is the place. Whether you're drawn in by the board walk, scenic overlooks, nature trails or picnic areas, you'll be sure to enjoy yourself once you've arrived.
