One of the things I really like about Estero is the location! It's right between Fort Myers and Naples, and you have so much nearby without having to travel very far. We actually live right on the border of Estero, and the convenience is one of the things we love most about where we live. You're close to I-75, Southwest Florida International Airport, shopping, restaurants, beaches, and so many other areas of Southwest Florida. If you travel frequently like we do, having the airport and interstate nearby is a huge plus. And let's talk about shopping! Estero has some fantastic options with Coconut Point, Miromar Outlets, and nearby Gulf Coast Town Center. You have everything from everyday shopping and restaurants to entertainment, movies, and places to just get out and enjoy the afternoon. Another thing I really like about Estero is the variety of housing options. You have beautiful gated communities with resort-style pools, fitness centers, golf, tennis, pickleball, and social activities. Communities like The Brooks, Grandezza, Stoneybrook, and Bella Terra all offer different lifestyles and amenities. But you can also find established neighborhoods without HOAs, which can be a great option if you're looking for more flexibility or lower monthly expenses. And depending on the neighborhood and type of home, I think Estero can offer some pretty good value compared to certain areas of Naples and Bonita Springs. One thing that makes Estero interesting is Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). I've always thought this creates some unique opportunities for families who have children attending college here. Rather than paying rent for several years, some families consider purchasing a condo or home for their student to live in. Others purchase a second home they can enjoy while visiting, or potentially keep as a long-term investment. Of course, you'd want to look closely at the numbers, HOA rental restrictions, insurance, and expenses before making that decision, but it's definitely something worth considering. Estero also has some really nice parks and outdoor activities. Koreshan State Park is a beautiful place to walk, kayak, explore the Estero River, and learn a little about the area's history. Estero Community Park is another great spot for walking, recreation, and activities. And if you enjoy sports or entertainment, Hertz Arena is home to the Florida Everblades hockey team and hosts concerts and other events throughout the year. Now, there are a few things I would want buyers to understand before moving here. First, Estero has quite a few gated communities, and the HOA fees can vary considerably. Some have golf memberships, additional fees, or restrictions that may not fit what you're looking for. It's important to understand the total cost of ownership, not just the price of the home. Second, not every property with an Estero mailing address is actually within the Village of Estero. That can make a difference when looking at taxes, services, and local regulations. And although you're conveniently located near so much, traffic along Corkscrew Road, US 41, and some of the main intersections can get pretty busy, especially during our winter season. Another thing to consider is that Estero isn't directly on the beach. You're close to Bonita Beach, Lovers Key, and other beautiful coastal areas, but you'll still be driving to get there. I think Estero offers a really nice balance of location, lifestyle, and convenience. You have a college nearby, great shopping and restaurants, beautiful communities, parks, entertainment, and easy access to the airport and interstate. My biggest advice would be to explore the different neighborhoods and understand what each community offers. Some are very active socially, some are golf focused, and others are more traditional residential neighborhoods. For us, the location is a big part of why we love living in this area. It's convenient for our everyday lives, and when we want to travel or enjoy other parts of Southwest Florida, we're already in a great spot.
