I've lived in the Phoenix Metro area since 1991 and have worked in Arizona real estate since 2004, so I've watched **Chandler, Arizona** grow from a much smaller East Valley community into one of the region's major employment, technology and residential centers. For buyers moving to Chandler, the first thing I would explain is that **location within Chandler matters a great deal**. The city has established neighborhoods, newer communities, luxury homes, condos and townhomes, larger-lot properties, gated communities and even some semi-rural areas. Your commute, school preferences, lifestyle and budget should all influence which part of Chandler you consider. ### What I like about Chandler One of Chandler's biggest advantages is its combination of **employment, housing, shopping, restaurants and convenient East Valley access**. Chandler has developed into a major technology and business center. The city currently reports about **132,000 jobs**, with major employers including Intel, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Dignity Health, Northrop Grumman and Microchip Technology. The Price Corridor alone contains more than 41,000 jobs. That employment base is important for homeowners because, in my experience, communities with strong nearby employment tend to remain attractive to both future buyers and renters. Chandler is also centrally positioned within the East Valley. Depending on the neighborhood, residents can have relatively convenient access to **Gilbert, Tempe, Mesa, Scottsdale, Phoenix and Sky Harbor International Airport**, particularly through Loop 101 and Loop 202. ### The pros of living in Chandler **Employment opportunities are a major advantage.** Chandler is especially strong in semiconductor technology, advanced manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, aerospace and software-related industries. **There is good housing variety.** The city reports more than 115,000 housing units as of August 2026, and buyers can find traditional single-family neighborhoods, executive homes, condos, townhomes and other property types. **Shopping, dining and entertainment are convenient.** Downtown Chandler has developed into an active restaurant and entertainment area, while Chandler Fashion Center and surrounding commercial districts provide extensive shopping and dining choices. **Parks and recreation are another strength.** Chandler currently has 69 developed parks, giving residents numerous options for sports, recreation and outdoor activities. **The location works well for many commuters.** For someone working in Chandler, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert or parts of Phoenix and Scottsdale, Chandler can be an excellent home base. ### Families and schools Education is understandably an important consideration for many relocating buyers. Most of Chandler is served by **Chandler Unified School District and Kyrene School District**, although several districts serve portions of the city. There are also charter and private-school options. Buyers should always verify the exact school boundaries for an individual property rather than assuming a Chandler mailing address automatically determines the school district. ### What are the potential downsides? No city is perfect, and I think buyers benefit from understanding the tradeoffs before purchasing. **Home prices can be higher than buyers expect.** Chandler's employment base, location and established neighborhoods create strong demand in many areas. A buyer relocating from another part of Arizona may find that desirable Chandler neighborhoods command a premium. **There is relatively little undeveloped residential land remaining.** Chandler reports that approximately 93% of its available land has already been developed, with less than 2% of the remaining land designated for residential development. That means much of Chandler's future housing growth is expected to come through infill and redevelopment rather than large new subdivisions. For buyers, that makes **condition and age of the home particularly important**. Some of Chandler's most desirable neighborhoods are established communities where buyers should carefully evaluate the roof, HVAC systems, plumbing, windows, pool equipment and previous renovations. **Traffic can be significant during commuting hours**, especially near major employment areas and freeway interchanges. **Arizona summer heat is another consideration.** Air-conditioning age and efficiency, home orientation, insulation, windows, shade and pool condition can make a noticeable difference in both comfort and monthly expenses. **HOAs are common in many communities.** Some buyers appreciate the neighborhood standards and amenities, while others prefer fewer restrictions. Buyers should review the CC&Rs, fees, rental rules and other HOA requirements before purchasing. ### My personal advice for someone moving to Chandler I would not choose a Chandler home based solely on the house itself. First determine **where you will work and how you actually live**. If you commute every day, test-drive the commute during rush hour. If restaurants and entertainment are important, consider proximity to Downtown Chandler or major commercial areas. If you work in technology or financial services, being near the Price Corridor can dramatically reduce your daily drive. I also recommend comparing Chandler with neighboring **Gilbert, Tempe and Mesa**. Sometimes moving only a few miles can change the style of home, lot size, neighborhood feel, taxes, HOA structure and price. After more than **22 years working in Arizona real estate**, one thing I have learned is that the best property is not necessarily the largest house or newest remodel. **Location within the community, neighborhood quality, lot position, property condition and future resale appeal can matter just as much.** For someone relocating to Arizona, Chandler can be an excellent choice if you want a **well-established East Valley community with a strong employment base, convenient freeway access, shopping, restaurants, parks and a wide variety of housing options**. My goal is to help buyers understand not only what a property looks like online, but whether its **location, value, condition, neighborhood and long-term potential make sense for their individual situation**. **Christian Bissing, Associate Broker & Realtor®** **BissingRealEstate.com** **Phoenix Metro resident since 1991 | Arizona real estate professional since 2004 | Serving Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale, Queen Creek, Paradise Valley and the greater Phoenix Metro area**

Chandler City Reviews
Real experiences from people who call Chandler home.
As a Realtor and a long-time resident of Chandler, AZ, I can confidently say this city is an excellent place to call home. Having moved here from the Midwest ten years ago in search of a warmer climate, my family and I have come to love everything Chandler has to offer. Pros: 1. Family-Oriented Community: Chandler is a family-friendly city with many activities and amenities. My kids attended Seton Catholic High School, and we found the school community to be welcoming and supportive. 2. Recreational Spaces: The city has many green belts with picnic tables and sport courts, perfect for family outings and weekend activities. We love spending time in these areas, enjoying the sunny weather. 3. Beautiful Landscapes: Chandler's landscapes are truly breathtaking. From the meticulously maintained golf courses to the scenic mountain trails, people find plenty of things to do and appreciate. 4. Community Involvement: There is a strong sense of community here. Residents are actively involved in local events and initiatives, fostering a close-knit, supportive environment. 5. Quality Dining: The city is home to a variety of family-owned restaurants. We've enjoyed many memorable meals at local eateries that cater to all tastes and preferences. 6. Well-Maintained City: Chandler is well-known for its cleanliness and well-kept public spaces. The city's commitment to maintenance is evident everywhere you look. Cons: 1. Hot Summers: While the warmer climate is a major draw, the summer months can be extremely hot. However, most homes and public spaces are well-equipped with air conditioning to keep things comfortable. 2. Traffic: As Chandler continues to grow, traffic can sometimes be an issue during peak hours. However, the city is continuously working on improving infrastructure to alleviate congestion. Personal Experience: Moving to Chandler from the Midwest has been a wonderful experience for my family and me. We were initially drawn by the warmer climate, but we've stayed for the strong sense of community and the high quality of life. My children, now college graduates, built lasting friendships. The local restaurants, sunrises and sunsets, hiking and biking trails have all given us countless memories and enjoyable experiences. If you're considering making Chandler your home, I'd love to share more about this fantastic city and help you find the perfect home.
