We flew out in May to look at houses in Tucson, where we had come in April for several prior years, but every day there in May was 100A?, and our realtor frankly gave us spotty attention. After 7 frustrating days with him, we were really discouraged and felt maybe we should not make the move. But months before we had made an appointment with a realtor in Prescott (a place and person we knew little about), so we headed up there on that Wednesday. From the moment we got to Prescott (where it was a much cooler 85A?) and met with Pam Beitzel, everything went right for us. We met in her office at about noon, by the time we left 5 days later, we had decided to buy the house of our dreams in a heavenly place. Heres how it wentaEUR| We got Pams nearly full attention from the start until we left. That first afternoon, she met and discussed with us what we were looking for, and telling us about Prescott. Then she drove us around Prescott, describing the various neighborhoods, giving us a real feel for what was out there. That gave us a good base for what was to follow. Thursday was a long day! First, we met with Pam again in her office, and then Pam took us into 9 specific houses she had thoughtfully picked out for us, at various price ranges, but all very nice, getting a feel for what we liked, and discussing the pros and cons of each. We liked most, but by the end of the day, there was one which really stood out for us. Its 5500 sq ft was much bigger than we had planned to buy, but we loved it, and needed a night to think about it on our own. On Friday we met again and discussed it further. Pam took us for another, more focused walk around the house we liked. We told her we wanted to buy it. We went back to her office and discussed in detail how it would go and what we would need to do. On Saturday, she advised us about the strategy of making our offer. When we had that all settled, we went back to our hotel, and she submitted on our behalf what we considered an aggressively low offer. As it went back and forth, Pam would call us and discuss what to do next. After a few concessions on both sides, we reached an agreement with sellers on the offer price. Pam had handled all the negotiations with the sellers, and got us a great price. By the end of that day, we had concluded the first step toward buying our house. But there was still a lot to do. Because we had to fly out on Tuesday, before the end of Saturday Pam arranged for us a home inspection to be done on Monday - a miraculous feat on our behalf. Sunday was a day of rest, but Monday was another whirlwind. With Pam, we went along with the inspector as he thoroughly checked out and described every aspect of the large house, learning in detail as much as we could absorb about it. Then we returned to her office and signed the papers committing to buying the house. On Tuesday we flew home. From afar, with Pams help, we closed on the house in June, not to actually enter it until early August (because we still had to sell our house and take care of affairs in Massachusetts, and then drive 2600 miles west.) In those intervening months there were many steps required, all of which were new to us. But Pam took care of things - 110% of what was required. As each issue came up, she would call us, patiently and clearly advise us, and every time we could see why we should do what she suggested. Being 2600 miles away, we sure needed that! But her service continuedaEUR| We closed on the purchase in mid-June, and when we drove out and actually entered the house in August, she was there to meet us and help us move in. We were ignorant of how things worked in Arizona generally, and house specifically. She told us where to get things fixed, and provided us with a list of people to contact. Over the first several weeks, we were able to go to Pam for answers on all kinds of things. At first we were calling her daily, and she was always there for us with good answers. Each week, though, we became more able to cope on our own, and required less hand-holding by Pam. After a couple of months, we were pretty much on our own. What more can anyone ask of their realtor? She guided us throughout a very daunting process, making it as comfortable for us as possible. Without hesitation, we recommend that anyone looking to buy a house in Prescott go to Pam Beitzel!
