ReviewMy husband and I were referred to Nicky through one of our colleagues and worked with her to purchase a single family home in Falls Church. We had a tight timeframe and Nicky was able to deliver! We had our first call with her in early March on the day that we reached out, started seeing houses right away, and were able to close on our home in late April. This wouldnt have been possible without her connections, clear communication, and expertise. Nicky got us into multiple houses before they went live on the MLS (including the one that we purchased) and helped us to explore different neighborhoods including Alexandria, Vienna, McLean and Falls Church. Ultimately, she was the one that found our house and worked with us to get a pre-offer inspection the day after we saw it and to quickly submit an offer. We always communicated directly with her, and she was extremely responsive even when we made the decision to write at 10pm on a Sunday! Nicky navigated a challenging negotiation and closing, including a fast close and 6 week seller rent back, with grace and professionalism. She recommended a lender who was not only able to offer us the most competitive rate, but also helped us to close in 3 weeks with a jumbo mortgage. Furthermore, when the dishwasher needed repair before our final walkthrough and ultimately stopped working during the rent back, she went above and beyond to make sure that we got the replacement that we wanted at no cost to us. Overall, we were very impressed by our interactions with Nicky and would highly recommend her to others. She clearly knows the market and has abundant experience, but what sets her apart is her honesty, integrity and the ease of working with her!

Overcoming the challenge of time zones and distance, Nicky maintained timely and responsive communication especially with the sheer number of questions we always had. She was very thorough and provided us with a wide range of home listings to review, helped us learn about neighborhoods, school districts, commute patterns and many other factors that affected the local housing market and our housing search. Her insight was of tremendous help in narrowing our field of consideration, making what can be a stressful and difficult process of home buying more manageable once we arrived back in Virginia. Review We loved working with Nicky!! My husband and I had a tricky situationaEUR|we made an offer on a house the first weekend we started looking and we got it. Be careful what you wish for. We then had to quickly prep our current home in an effort to get it on the market ASAP. Nicky McDonnell was a Godsend for both transactions. We were in a bidding war for the first home and she kept us calm and reasonable through that painful process. Nickys sense of what todays buyer is looking for helped us plan some strategic renovations before we were ready to put our house on the market. Her network of contractors made it possible to get everything completed and staged in a month. Which is a monumental task. We had a contract on our old home the first weekend in went on, which was incidentally, was the same weekend we closed and moved into our new home. We had one serious contingency for the house we were selling and once again, Nickys network provided just the right contractor to clear the contingency prior to the 30 day close. Not an easy task! She deftly worked with our other contractors to help clear all of the contingencies requested from a nervous first time buyer and for that we are eternally thankful. You cannot work with a savvier and level-headed realtor than Nicky McDonnell. Oh, and did we mention? A darn nice, down to earth person as well.

Review Nicky went above and beyond from the first moment we reached out about a very spontaneous, pandemic-inspired, competitive transaction. She referred us to a wonderful person for pre-approval, she helped us see the home before the open house, and she suggested a pre-inspection (which we had never heard of) that definitely seemed to be a deciding factor in our favor. Nicky then sold our house shortly afterward, with no fuss or stress, and multiple offers. Buying and selling homes is supposed to be stressful, but not with Nicky as your agent! Everything was smooth sailing, she knows the market, and is widely respected by buyers, sellers and others in the business as classy, fair, honest and charming. Review Nicky has lived in Northern VA for a number of years and has an outstanding knowledge of neighborhoods from the best school districts to local amenities to property value. We purchased a home through her - then rented it with her expertise and have now sold the home with Nicky as our agent throughout. We currently line in AZ and Nicky did the walk through with our renters for the move out - hired a top notch contractor to paint and make repairs to ready the house for sale - helped negotiate pricing with contractor - reviewed work of a siding contractor and checked on and handled follow up on a number of closing details. Nicky is a top notch professional who also cares a great deal about her clients- she is honest - has high standards/ethics and does not just go the extra mile but well beyond. You cant go wrong with Nicky - the wrong thing to do would be to go with someone else as she is the best.

Review As DOD employees, my wife and I worked with Nicky during our PCS to the DC Area from the Pacific Northwest. Bottom line: Nicky is far and away the best real estate agent we have ever worked with. During our house hunting trip in August, 2012, she showed us over 50 properties at our request. Understanding our tight timeline, she was always prepared with the latest listings and had a logical efficient route planned out for the days viewings. There was NO pressure. On several occasions there were last minute listings that we wanted to see. Nicky was always willing to rearrange her busy schedule to get us into the homes in advance of the rush. She went the extra mile to answer our questions and has the patience of a saint as we brought our 4 year old son along on the house hunting trip. After approximately 2 weeks of intense searching, we found the perfect home and closed in early October. Through it all, Nicky was rock solid, giving us the advice we needed to get the deal done. In addition to her considerable knowledge, she has a wonderful personality and sense of humor. Review We first met Nicky at an open house. We were "casually" thinking about buying a new home. Fast forward two years and we were finally ready to sell our place and purchase a single family home. Nicky had kept in touch with us over that two year time period and had sent us information and detailed updates of the areas we were interested in during that time period. So, when the time came to sell, we contacted her immediately.Nicky came to our townhouse to evaluate the place and to discuss potential purchases. Over the next five months, we set out on a search for a perfect home. We had a baby on the way so time was a factor. I absolutely wanted to find a new home before the baby arrived. So, Nicky went along with us to help buy a new home and sell our existing home in a set time period. When it came time to help us sell our townhouse, we had direct competition about 5 doors down. They had priced a lot higher than we thought was a feasible price. So, we looked with Nicky at sale comps in the area and set on a fair price. We had talked about staging and improvements that would help us sell quickly. We set to work on cleaning, staging, and prepping our place. Nicky enlisted a photographer who did an amazing job and got our home listed perfectly. After two open houses, we received a sound offer. The offer did include a few odd provisions (they wanted personal items in the house... weird) and Nicky helped a very pregnant seller (insert my questionable emotional state here) and helped us to reach a good price and agreement quickly (that allowed us to keep said personal items). We could not have been happier. She worked with us to arrange the closing in a really quick manner and was there to help.We highly recommend Nicky. She was amazing in helping us to sell our place quickly. She was so nice to work with and we really enjoyed the process. Additionally, three units in Cameron Station went on the market right before or after our place listed. They were the exact same layout. We sold in two weeks. They were still on the market at least two months after our sale. So, not only was Nicky a delight and fun agent, she got the job done quickly and helped us sell before the other direct competitors in the neighborhood.
