In the summer of 2022, we started visiting properties in earnest, but there was nothing that fitted my needs. Then in October 2022, Mike told me about a house in Bay View Estates. It was not publicly listed yet, but was about to, so I had a head start of a few days. It turned to be pretty much a perfect fit for me. Throughout the negotiation phase, Mike gave me many judicious advices. Then once the sale was closed, he helped me settle in to the new place. As a vacation home owner, I needed to make a lot of additional arrangements that were not necessary for full-time residents. Mike and his wife were of great help in this process, recommending many service providers whom I ended up hiring. I had a problem with the bank dragging their feet on my loan approval and it was Mike who called into a contact at the bank to get it the loan approved before closing. Mike also went above and beyond in helping me get my Short Term Vacation Rental (STVR) approved in time of my sale. This was huge because the Big Island the STVR are backed up months. Then my cousin told us about a place near them for sale, but was pending. Mike, out of the graciousness of his heart, went and videoed every last inch of this place for me and sent me all the videos. It really felt as though I was there by the quality of his videos. The pending sale fell out, and we jumped in with an offer. We were very pleased with both the listing side and the buying side of our challenging real estate journey. His knowledge of the market for our houses for sale was very good even though they were quite different markets with one being residential in Kona's Alii Heights & one further south in the country (coffee, banana, & avocado farm on an acre in Captain Cook's McCoy Plantation). This can be a very time sensitive issue as any investor knows and Mike was very quick to set up virtual tours for us as we live in Oregon, so he would go out right away and video the property with commentary in great detail. Although we ended up buying locally in Oregon, we continue to work with Mike to find either land to build, or a future dream home. Even though we have decided we need to save more money for the property we desire, Mike continued to go out and inspect potential land options for us, no questions asked. He further made time to meet with my wife and I when on island the last time to give us a map and some ideas of areas to drive around, based on our interests, again in an effort to familiarize us with the nuances of each subdivision.
