Real Estate Broker Michelle McGrann realized early in life the importance of treating customers like family, and today, she's a successful real estate broker who draws on those strong family values to help clients accomplish their real estate goals. Michelle attributes much of her success as a broker to the lessons she learned as a child growing up at the Washougal River Mercantile, a small country store in rural Washougal, WA, that her family has owned for the past 40 years. The store recently celebrated its 100th anniversary and Michelle says it's where she learned the importance of showing customers that they matter. "Customers remember how you make them feel," says Michelle. "When I show you that you matter to me and that you belong, you also trust that I will have your best interest at heart. Trust and respect is important when you're helping someone buy or sell a home because there's a lot of money and emotion involved; after all, a home is where you support each other, connect, and show your love." Before earning her real estate license, Michelle provided front desk support and patient care at a dental office for seven years and then worked as an assistant to the owner of Columbia River Realty for two years. "Being an assistant taught me how to manage the paperwork and tasks that happen when you're not out looking for homes. By the time I became a broker, I had the confidence and knowledge of a seasoned expert." While Michelle is a full-time real estate broker, she enjoys the flexibility that her career provides and hopes to teach her young son the importance of genuinely caring for those you work with, just like her family taught her. "I love that my son gets to see me work hard for clients and help families with one of the biggest decisions of their life. I hope when he grows up that he'll bring strong family values to his passion, too." Michelle lives in the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area and says she works at Columbia River Realty because the brokerage shares her family values. "Our brokerage is very connected to the community and all the brokers are there for their clients and not the paycheck.
