ZillowVERIFIED Recently, Michelle Harrington helped us sell and buy a home AGAIN! It all started back in 2006 when my wife and I looked at relocating our family from California to Washington. We contacted a local agent about a specific home, who happened to be Michelle. She offered to show us around and help us find a homeIf we were to fly up to visit Whatcom County. Mechelle asked what we were looking for and got right to work. Upon our visit, Michelle was ready with multiple homes to visit. She even drove us around to multiple sites throughout the county. After two days of looking, we found one that was everything we were looking for in a home. The buying process went well and it was easy to work with Michelle from out of state. Then, in 2008-2009, the aEURoehousing crisisaEUR? hit. We were deeply affected by the interest rates and banking fiasco. We figured we would lose our home and not be able to buy another home for years to come. We called Michelle to see what could be done. She walked us through what needed to be done. Our mortgage was taken over by another bank, who was willing to work with us in selling our home. In such a trying time, Michelle was there to help us sell our home and keep us from foreclosing. For the next 2 years, we rented until our credit would allow us to purchase another home. After two years, we were ready to buy another home and stop throwing money at a rental. We contacted Michelle and once again, she helped us go through the process of looking for and buying a home. There were so many agents in Whatcom County to choose from and we never thought about working with anyone other than Michelle. She knew our experiences and she knew what we liked when it came to buying a home. In 2022, after almost a decade of living in our second Washington home, we felt it was time to move into town. We were living out in the county and wanted to live within the Bellingham city limit to be closer to shopping, restaurants, entertainment, etc. Once again, we called Michelle. She came out to our house to meet with us and see what our needs were. After a discussion, Michelle immediately got to work for us. Michelle sold our house in a very tough market. It was late summer when we were ready to put our house on the market. By then, the market had shifted due to rising interest rates. Michelle was able to sell our house for our asking price. We never had to lower the price. Upon accepting an offer on our house, Michelle shifted from our selling agent to our buying agent. Within no time, we found a home that suited us and placed an offer lower than the sellers asking price. It was accepted and we were pending on a sale and purchase with a closing date close in time. She did not have much time as we moved up the listing date by 3 weeks but you would never know it. Michelle had the best of the best marketing team out within days photographing our home and putting together a gorgeous marketing presentation. Our plan was to be on the market 7-10 days but I changed that last minute and Michelle rose to the occasion again with the most professional attitude. If you want to have any hope of getting the home you want, then you need a realtor who will not just prioritize your purchase but who knows EVERYTHING about the Bellingham market: from what area is best, to who to contact to get an answer or a problem resolved. And you want a realtor who is established in the area - knows everyone and is known by everyone. And you when it comes to writing an offer, you better hope you have a realtor who knows what it is going to take to actually get you the house you want. As of Apr 2021 most homes are going significantly over list price. This is where we were so grateful for Michelle's expertise. Michelle knew what kind of offer it would take to get the home we wanted - and she was right. But most importantly, you want a realtor who has your best interest at heart. We were in a unique and somewhat nerve wracking situation where we had to make our offer without physically seeing the place. We trusted that Michelle knew what we were looking for and she was right. Michelle is the best realtor (of 9) that we have worked with. ZillowVERIFIED Ill be honest: my husband and I were probably not the easiest clients to work with on our recent house purchase in Bellingham. We had very high standards for quality and a fairly specific set of criteria that we wanted in our new home, but we were unwilling to overpay or get into a bidding war. And of course we were looking in the middle of the pandemic, in just about the hottest market that the region has ever experienced. Yet this didnt phase Michelle Harrington. Instead, she showed us nothing but patience, understanding, rock-solid advice, and great professional respect...even as we viewed hundreds of properties online and toured more than 25 homes in person and another 15-20 via video chat (we were living 2.5 hours away). Throughout this whole process, Michelle was a real pleasure to work with and someone whom I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a home in the greater Bellingham area. Her local knowledge is exceptional, and she has a keen eye for quality and detail. In the end, we found a wonderful house in the perfect neighborhood, and despite the real estate craziness we got it for a fair price. We will definitely work with Michelle again, and we cannot say enough great things about her and her unmatched work ethic.
