About Matt Matayoshi
I'm a licensed real estate broker with Keller Williams South Sound, working with buyers, sellers, and investors across Thurston and Lewis Counties - Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, Yelm, Chehalis, Centralia, and the towns in between.
Before I got my real estate license, I spent nearly twenty years in economic development. I was the Executive Director of the Lewis Economic Development Council in Chehalis, and the Executive Director of the Mason County Economic Development Council in Shelton before that. At the Lewis EDC, we helped bring Lowe's Distribution, UNFI, Cardinal Glass, and Winlock Industrial Park to the county - hundreds of jobs and tens of millions of dollars of investment. At Mason, we brought in Ridge Motorsports Park. I have a B.A. in International Politics from Brigham Young University.
I have also served as Director of Business Development at Capital Development Company, a private commercial retail real estate owner-operator. That role keeps me on a multi-state transaction team negotiating acquisitions, dispositions, and leases - which means the analytical work I do for a $400,000 home sale is the same work I do for a commercial deal ten times that size.
That background is useful in three ways. I understand land - zoning, utilities, setbacks, water rights, rail access - so when a buyer's agent asks a technical question, I can answer it on the spot. I've negotiated complex transactions with corporate site-selection teams, attorneys, and county officials for twenty years, which is good preparation for representing you at the closing table.
