They are both great, and we can't recommend them highly enough! Margot's housing expertise is unmatched by anyone we've encountered. She has an exhaustive knowledge of the market over the whole Columbus area, with an excellent sense of pricing, availability, and the "feel" of neighborhoods and subdivisions. She was superb at reading our needs & wants, and at finding houses that would be a good match for us. But it's not just the market -- she also knows houses. Every time we went through a prospect, she was quick to spot both hidden virtues & possible defects, and she was excellent at knowing the difference between serious problems & cosmetic issues. And in all of that, she was a great explainer, clearly & capably describing her observations & advice and what she based them on. Once we'd picked a house, she was great at keeping things on track. She reads situations remarkably well, she's a skilled negotiator, and she works well with other realtors, so she's able to come up with a deal that works. Jeff became involved after we had a contract, and on very short notice he expertly & quickly moved us through the documentation process. Because of the short time frame, it really took the two of them working together to get the deal done seamlessly, and they do work very well together. Both Margot & Jeff made the process of buying a home in a very competitive market doable & enjoyable. They have a very deep bench of highly competent & helpful ancillary help -- inspectors, mortgage sources, plumbers, roofers, etc., which is making our transition very smooth. We only wish they worked in the Dayton area so they could be the listing agents for the house we're selling here.

Luckily Jeff and Margot blew our expectations away! From the moment we sat down to talk with them, it was clear they had a genuine interest in helping us find the right home and selling ours for the right price and at the time that worked best for us. The MLS search they set up showed us exactly the kind of homes we were looking for, and when touring properties they gave incredible insight into things we would not have thought about. On the selling side, the process with them was a breeze, and they were able to obtain multiple offers on our home well over the asking price within a day or two of it being on the market. We were in contract after a weekend and knew exactly what was happening every step of the way. ZillowVERIFIED Moving from Austin, TX to Columbus, OH, I looked for 3 main qualities when selecting my Real Estate Agent: 1) experience in the industry and understanding the local market, 2) attention to detail of our requests and potential homes we saw, and 3) honesty and integrity. After many recommendations we decided to go with Margot Laumann and we couldnt be happier. Yes, at the end of day this was a feel good story with us buying the house we wanted. However, the work and effort Margot put in to get us there is what makes her better than the rest in the market. As I stated above, we lived in Austin, TX, but failed to mention we had a short timeline due to us expecting to have a baby in about 5 months from the start of our search. Additionally, we started searching at the end of the fall/beginning of winter which is the worst time to find a home (in my opinion). After virtually meeting Margot we knew immediately she was a perfect fit. She had 13+ years of experience in real estate and her parents were both Real Estate Agents (I interpret this to mean she was around real estate business in some capacity for her entire life). She knew the market for Columbus and surrounding areas. Asked a bunch of questions to understand our aEURoemust haves, wants, and deal breakersaEUR? because we could only come up to see homes we really liked and had to rely heavily on her. One key quality I noticed from our meeting (and throughout our experience) was how honest she was with us. She understood how busy we were and did not want to waste our time. After understanding our budget and prioritizing our requirements; she identified areas where it would be possible to get everything we wanted versus some, and also provided different scenarios (she was going to try her best to meet all our expectations but wanted to be realistic). Example, based on our budget, living in certain areas were feasible, but we needed to expand the search on year the home was built or increase our budget and potentially remove a aEUR~want versus living in another area we wasnt considering which could offer everything we initially requested. I loved her honesty because I didnt want a aEURoeYesaEUR? person who knew our requirements were a little over the top and potentially couldnt meet them (again, she was going to try to meet them all). During our Research phase, Margot would stay in constant communication with us (daily or every 2 days). She would share homes through her app, provide any additional feedback that was not listed but knew it was important to us, and went to physically see homes we were interested in to give us her opinion based on our expectations. She knew how expensive flights were and would maximize our visits. Showing us homes we really wanted to see and others that we did not considered but potentially like based on our requirements (after our first visit to see houses she better understood our expectations and knew that although pictures looked amazing, there were qualities we wouldnt like. This helped us decipher through homes without actually seeing them). Finally, finding the house we desired, this is where I think she separates herself from others and thats in the Closing process. She remained as active in the Closing phase as she was in the Research phase by holding our hands as if she was our parent and didnt want anyone to take advantage of us (you would of thought she was buying herself a home or moving in with us ha). It is difficult to explain as I am not an expert in closing but she ensured the Seller upheld their end of the contract and had no issue calling them out for any inaccuracies or discrepancies. Additionally, for the loan process, she reviewed our loan application, asked clarifying questions that we did not understand and made sure everything went as smoothly as possible. Lets just say, I was super satisfied with the Closing process and didnt feel we got cheated. I actually felt bad for the Seller based on her demands. Saying all this, there are numerous Real Estate Agents in the Columbus area we could have worked with. I assume there are a lot of good ones as well. However, 10 out of 10 times I am picking Margot (if she accepts me lol). Because, with Margot, I know she will do everything she can to find me the best available home based on my requirements and heard she did the same for others (based on others recommending her to us).

This also helped them know more of what would be right for me too. The market changed a lot since my last home buying experience more than 28 years ago.
