I have been listing and selling real estate in Williamsburg, York County, Newport News, Poquoson, Gloucester, Hampton and Isle of Wight since 1996. Originally from San Diego, and transferred when my husband was in the military, I have been in this area since 1990. I was a restaurant manager prior to going to real estate school. Although I enjoyed that job, I love my career as a Realtor! I have made so many new friends and helped many families who have been relocated to Hampton Roads, without knowing anyone here. I can certainly relate to that! My hobbies include spending time with my family, riding my Harley (Sportster 1200), raising my chickens (pets, not food), travel, watching football (Chargers), reading, baking, music and education. Associations: National Association of Realtors Williamsburg Area Association of Realtors Virginia Association of Realtors Virginia Peninsula Association of Realtors Harley Owners Group Ladies of Harley Williamsburg Moose - Lodge 757 PeCK: Peninsula Chicken Keepers The Womens Club of Newport News, Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. I absolutely LOVE my job! I have met some of the most amazing people through this career, who I now count as friends. My daughter and I rescue chickens- I get the hens, she gets the Roos. I also have rescue cats. Animals are my passion. I also love spending time with the elderly. Our community outreach committee in our office does things for the elderly and the homeless. I enjoy riding my Harley and spending time time friends and family. We travel when we can, but I certainly don't mind being at home with family, fur and feathers.

FAQ
1. What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?
The very first step is to qualify with a local lender so you know your comfort zone. Then interview agents. These two people will guide you through the process and make it as easy as possible for you.
2. What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?
Interview several agents, and choose the one you feel you will work best with. You will be spending a lot of time together, and you want that to be a comfortable experience. All agents will prepare market analysis for you and marketing materials, but the rapport and ability to communicate is key! Communicating with you and with the agent that brings your buyer is paramount. You want someone who can talk to others to accomplish the mutual goal of getting the sale to completion, and someone with a good reputation, that other agents wants to work with.
3. What types of clients have you worked with?
Over the last 26 years I think I have worked with almost every kind of client. First time homebuyers, home sellers, move-ups, downsizing, affordable homes, high end estates, raw land, modulars, condos, townhomes, duplexes, flips, yes, just about everything. Even an Antique Mall!
4. Describe a recent transaction you are fond of. How did it go?
I just closed a newly blended family on their new build in Poquoson. Love the family, loved watching them build their dream home together. It was rewarding, romantic, and exactly what they want to start their new life together.
5. How did you get started in Real Estate?
At the time I got my real estate license, I was a single mom, and I needed a flexible schedule so I could be home when my kids needed me. If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. I had no idea how rewarding it would be. I was looking for a flexible "job" and what I found was a career for life.
6. Do you have any special education or training that will benefit your clients?
I am always looking to continue my education. I stay abreast of the market, and my broker makes it easy, always updating us with a weekly market watch. (The market can shift quickly- one must be paying attention)! I have an amazing support staff that benefits my clients by making me more available to them. I'm also studying American Sign Language. My husband is losing his hearing, and I feel like that is a segment of the population that becomes invisible to many- Not to me! I have a heightened awareness now more than ever.
Closing costs and down payments are 2 different things. Your lender will itemize them for you. Some loans allow sellers to help with your down payment, but most loans do not. A good lender will also look for grant money for you. Your lender is enormously important in this transaction. They can cost you or save you quite a bit of money. Choose wisely! Your Realtor can help you with that.

Kitty was nothing short of amazing! We felt so confident having her as our realtor. She paid very close attention to detail, is amazing at communicating, and was so helpful every step of the way. By the end of the process she felt like family! We highly recommend her!!
Kitty walked us through each and every step, calmed us down a few times during the process and made sure we were prepared for everything as it occurred. Working with her was a pleasure!
Kitty was a great pleasure to work with. I put the kids house up for sell and they had an offer in a few days. Then when the first buyer backed out she got back on selling my kids house and it sold the next week. My kids house had so much issues and Kitty was so wonderful during the whole process. I would recommend her to anybody that wants to sell or buy a house. She was and is such a blessing.
