ZillowVERIFIEDWe worked with Ken Viele Jr. to sell our home while coordinating an out-of-state move, and unfortunately our experience was very frustrating. Early in the process, we felt strongly encouraged to use his preferred attorney rather than our own. That ultimately became a major issue for us due to unexpected legal fees. When our first offer came in, we felt pressured to accept quickly even though we didnt think we should. After seeking outside advice, we requested a best-and-final deadline, which ultimately resulted in a significantly stronger offer. Throughout the transaction, we often felt unsupported when raising concerns or asking questions. We were especially concerned about timing our move and the possibility of having nowhere to live between closings. During inspection negotiations, the buyers initially requested concessions related to the roof. We felt pressured to agree, despite believing the amount was excessive. We independently obtained roofing quotes, confirming our concerns that the requested concession was far higher than the likely repair cost. Had we simply followed the initial advice we were receiving, we likely would have conceded significantly more money than necessary. When we later needed help attempting to move the closing date by one week, we specifically asked Ken to communicate with the buyers side on our behalf. He declined to handle that directly and instead pushed the issue to the attorney. That decision ultimately resulted in substantial unexpected legal fees that we had not anticipated. There were also other avoidable frustrations during the process, including items being listed in the sale that we had not intended to include, disagreements over commission terms, and last-minute closing logistics that added unnecessary stress during an already difficult family move. This was an especially hard time for our family, including illness while caring for two very young children, and we needed an agent who felt more collaborative and supportive throughout the process. Based on our experience, we would not work with Ken again.

ZillowVERIFIED NOT TRUSTWORTHY.Behind all his glad-handing and smiles, Ken Viele is basically interested in the most profit from his transactions. At first, he was our agent with all smiles and promises of getting us a great price. However, he and his wife decided to buy our Beacon Falls home, and then he became the buyer and no longer looked out for us two seniors. He should have recommended we go to another real estate agent because it looked like a conflict of interest, but, unfortunately, we were too gullible. As the result, we did not fare well in this super-hot real estate market, so if you were to ask me, I would avoid this realtor at all costs as it might cost you in the long run.

Despite the fact we were first-time home buyers, were purchasing our home in a very challenging market for buyers, and we had a distinct yet not well articulated taste in homes, Ken worked with us step by step over the course of months across half of the state of Connecticut to show us homes. On multiple occasions he went above and beyond to reach out to the seller agents and express our interest. His contacts in the industry even set us up with an excellent lender who personally called the seller agents on our behalf to reassure the sellers of our sound credit. Ken was very knowledgeable of the process, took his time to listen to what we thought and provide his balanced guidance to us at each step of the way. Being first-time homebuyers, Ken was clear and communicative and was honest when he thought something we wanted wasn't going to work - offering alternatives when possible. Additionally, Ken often helped us during the home-showing process, pointing out parts of homes where there could be potentially problems or areas we would want to focus on with an inspector or in our offer letter, and pointing out other areas where a simple fix or change could be made to remedy our concerns. All of this was done in a way that wasn't pushy to try and get us into the first home we could get an offer to stick. I highly recommend Ken to any buyer out there looking for a great realtor in state of Connecticut, and especially recommend him to first-time home buyers.

I started my home search right before covid started, and once the pandemic happened Ken completely understood my comfort zone and hesitancy of not wanting to visit peoples homes at that time. Even though we put the active search on hold for a bit, he was still sending me listings so I knew what was out there. The minute one was listed that I was interested in (and ready to go see) he was available right away knowing how the market is right now. He explained the process to me very thoroughly since I was a first time home buyer and was always there to answer my questions. The lender contact he recommended (David) was also a great resource and made the mortgage process go smooth.
