ZillowVERIFIED If you need a realtor in the Athens area, it's gotta be Dean, full stop. My wife and I bought a modest house that Dean was representing for the sellers. He executed everything we asked for in good faith, even though he didn't personally stand to gain much from his work. He treated the sale how a lesser realtor would reserve only for very valuable houses. We knew at that point he would be our guy as long as we lived in the area. Five years later, we decided to move to another state, and when it was time to sell, there was only one call that needed to be made: Dean Bright. He was extremely patient and helpful through the entire process and never pressured us into a decision. In fact, he always kept our interests and needs in mind and was very helpful in pointing out potential concerns. As first-time home buyers with kids, we really appreciated his practical and straightforward advice on construction, repairs, drainage issues, school districts, etc. Dean was always willing to meet with us, was consistently good about being on time, and was always professional and friendly. He even helped us keep track of our kids when we brought them along! Although we were in a bit of a pinch, due to Dean selling our home so fast, Dean never pressured us to put an offer on a house. He was always relaxed and ALWAYS had our best interest in mind. He never tried to "sell" a house but would rather help us to make non-emotional decisions based on the full picture (location, quality of construction, neighborhood, cost, etc, etc). I've never met a "salesman" that was so relaxed, forthcoming and patient. When we did decide to put an offer on a new build, he walked us through the entire process with great knowledge. When we got fearful and had doubts, he never pressured us but was truly concerned that we make the right decision for us. He was always more concerned for our well-being than closing a deal. Dean knew we weren't ready to list our house, but he always provided quick and helpful feedback while never pushing us to list. He always seemed to have our best interest in mind. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable at every step of the buying process, and he took great care to educate us on all the little nuances of real estate that we could never have learned on our own. We always felt that Dean had our best interests at heart, and this was reinforced constantly throughout the entire process.As an example, we had a property that we were ready to make an offer on. We looked at the house on a Friday afternoon and emailed Dean in the early evening telling him that we wanted to make an offer. By early Saturday morning, he had a full report and negotiating strategy, and he had found out from the seller's agent about some serious water damage that the seller was apparently unwilling to fix. We were willing to deal with this for the right price, but there was another buyer coming in with a higher offer. Even though it would've gotten him a higher commission (and weeks sooner), Dean advised us against increasing our offer because the likely cost to repair the cause of the water damage plus the purchase price would've meant that we were paying more than the home was worth (and thus we would be unlikely to recoup the total cost).We took his advice, and we are very glad we did! Even though it took a few more weeks, we ended up finding a home we loved even more. Dean is the consummate real estate professional, and he would be the first person I would recommend for anyone looking to buy a home.

The walk through was a couple weeks before closing and we were making a punch list for the builder. As we were pointing out places that needed to be touched up with paint, Dean decided that it was his place to tell the builder that these requests were unnecessary. He said that we were already getting a good deal on the house. The builder had no problems with our requests, but Dean obviously did. After this meeting, I sent a message to our realtor requesting that Dean not accompany us for he final walk through. We actually did the walk through with the builders realtor who was much more helpful than Dean.

ZillowVERIFIED UPDATE BELOW:Dean worked with me for over 2 years waiting for my house in Eatonton to sell. He never gave up on me and would periodically check in to see what my status was. When I did have to opportunity to buy in Athens he was on top of the market, knew what I liked and was able to identify and present me with the house that I bought. He also helped me get the paperwork and the process completed in under 30 days--an amazing feat.UPDATE 2016: I decided to sell my house in 2016 that Dean helped me buy in 2009. We had been in contact for those 7 years and he gave me great advice when I wanted to make major improvements to the house-especially when I redid my entire kitchen. When I decided to list the house Dean said that he had a unique way of marketing the home. We listed the house for exactly one day and invited a number of brokers to attend the open house. Dean had suggested an asking price that I thought was not possible but in less than 12 hours we had four offers over the asking price. I was floored and totally unprepared for selling my house in one day. I thought that it would take a couple of months.
