Unless you have a looming deadline or a time crunch that needs to be honored, I highly recommend to buyers that they take their time when shopping for a home. It is very important that buyers look at many different types of houses to really decide what they need and want in their next home. The buying process should not be a rash decision and this is simply too much money to not spend time exploring areas, commute times, community features, etc. My main piece of advice is: Let's take our time and find you the right home!

Updates are not always improvements. If a home has not been modernized for a long time, seller updates are ways to improve marketability. Upgrades, on the other hand, are added features that are desirable, or stylistically on point and make the home appear more valuable to a buyer. For example, updating shag carpeting or harvest gold appliances is not an upgrade, but rather a necessary update to sell. Additionally, the fit and finish of the updates and upgrades matters a lot. For things that are not done well, buyers will see right through them and add zero value. In some cases updates and upgrades can be done so poorly that they actually detract from the value. I'm available anytime to meet with a seller to go over potential updates and upgrades to see which ones are best for marketability and value.

I hold a Bachelors of Science in Child Development and Family Relations, as well as minors in Psychology and Sociology. I have a Master's degree in Community Mental Health, and postgraduate work in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am also currently taking classes to become a real estate broker.
