We ultimately landed on our dream home in Corte Madera with Alex?s help! We were first introduced to Alex for our Marin focus via a friend who had purchased her house through him in Mill Valley and had a great experience. Not only did Alex need to help us graciously transition from a family real estate friend who had been previously helping us (explaining the value of having someone with local insights and off market connections and maturely and thoughtfully talking to our friend and even went as far as offering a referral fee), but he was a joy to work with from start to finish. Our kids literally call him ?uncle Alex?. We discussed at length what we were looking for, things that were important to us and less important as well as our budget parameters. He helped us focus on the neighborhoods we were mostly prioritizing, but also expanded our horizons slowly and we ended up buying a home in a completely different city than we?d originally targeted. We were on a bit of a tight timeline for a number of reasons and Alex was super responsive throughout, arranged tours for homes and would scope things out ahead of time for us so we made minimal trips from Southern California. When we were considering making an offer, Alex?s expertise helped us navigate disclosures and things to look out for, and he was there for every step of the process to answer any questions we had. Alex was unflappable as increasing interest rates augmented our budget and purchase price ceiling, orienting us appropriately to the Marin market from the East Bay to take advantage of opportunities that met all of our needs and many of our wants. Alex was patient as this process originally slated to take a quarter or two ran over one year and we pivoted several times with respect to geographical areas of focus. Alex was very responsive and we never felt like we were put on the back burner for other, larger clients that Alex and Alamere routinely serve. When there was a conflict (Alex showing for a sell-side client), we were always taken care of by another member of the Alamere Team. Alex was proactive in identifying opportunities and his suggestions were generally well-calibrated to our tastes and needs (missed marks were dude to our instructions to be over-inclusive given dearth of Marin inventory, particularly given the market conditions we contended with). Alexs strategies and negotiations skills resulted in our being successful bidders the weekend our home was being shown, with the buyers cancelling the second opn house only hours before it was set to occur. Had we not followed Alexs advice, we likely would have lost our new home or had to pay significantly more in an auction process. I always felt confident in following Alexs lead and, even with respect to the bids we lost, his advice and explanation of dynamics was always accurate. Alex took care of us after the sale, from arranging contractors to prep for move in to getting us plugged into the Marin motion of shops, restaurants and things to do to letting us borrow his key box for a trip. Alex walked us through every step from just poking around and looking to being ready and confident in putting in offers and ultimately nabbing our first home. He never pressured us and when we were unsure or weary he really listened to our feelings and concerns and gave us his honest advice even if that meant not making the sale. He always kept us in the know and would check in regularly with potential options that fit our wants/needs. Most importantly was how he made us feel like we were a team and not just potential clients. His knowledge of the Marin area was such a asset to have as he helped guide and educate us on what were points to think about when viewing homes. Most importantly was Alexs communication with us throughout the several months we worked together. He always made time for us and was always open to hearing us and answering any questions we had. Alex has been honest, gracious, knowledgeable, communicative, educational and ultimately the best resource in getting us to be home owners in our dream location. We interacted with several agents during this time, but never felt compelled to follow up with anyone. We met Alex during an Open House he was hosting and we knew he was our guy immediately. He was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Very polite, honest and not too pushy. As soon as we realized the time was right, we gave him a call and worked with him to find the right home for us. We discussed at length what we were looking for, things that were important to us and less important as well as our budget parameters. He helped us focus on a few neighborhoods given the parameters we discussed, and was super responsive to arrange tours for homes, including multiple tours for homes we liked. When we were considering making an offer, Alexs expertise helped us navigate disclosures and things to look out for, and he was there for every step of the process to answer any questions we had. As first time home buyers, he was extra informative on the types of things that should be concerning (or not) and the ballpark costs for a variety of fixes. He also helped us find the right lender and we were very happy with the entire process and the rate we got. A couple weeks into our search, we found a house we fell in love with but was a bit outside of our budget. The market had slowed down in the last couple of months and this house was on the market for about 40 days. We discussed with Alex about an offer we would be comfortable with, and our concerns to ensure we didnt offend the sellers. He reassured us that wouldn't be the case and thought it was a reasonable offer given the circumstances, so we decided to move forward. He did an excellent job during the negotiation phase thinking outside of the box for concessions that kept us within our budget constraints, and after a couple of back and forths we came up with a deal that made both us and the sellers happy. They made a number of suggestions for aspects of the house and property that should be updated. During the next few months we had contractors implement most of the suggested improvements, including some, like painting and floor refinishing, that required us to be out of the house about a month before it went on the market. They helped us find contractors and service providers who they knew would do a good job, and we took their advice on the asking price. They put the house on the market for one week, during which 35 people asked for the disclosure package. At the end of the week, we received 8 offers, all above asking, and were very pleased with three of the highest offers, one of which we accepted without revision. ZillowVERIFIED I have lived in and sold 5 homes in my life, and I can honestly say that the most recent sale, a few weeks ago, of a condo in Mill Valley, was the most pleasant real-estate transaction of them all. I had interviewed several real estate agents in the year leading up to the sale of my unit and I chose Alex Narodny of Alamere for several reasons: 1) He has a vigorous, engaged, and very successful company behind him; 2) real estate is his family's business (his mother is a co-owner of Alamere); 3) he seemed very knowledgeable yet easy going and polite, not pushy or braggardly; 4) he has tremendous reviews on the internet; and 3) in our discussions, it became clear that he was intent on saving me, the seller, money. The last item was irresistible to me. Other realtors were all pushing the line: "the more you do to upgrade your unit, the pricier the fixtures, the more expensive the stagers, the easier it will be to sell for a high price". But Alex was just the opposite. In fact, he often said, about my suggestions for upgrades, 'You don't have to do that. Buyers won't even notice it', while steering me towards those things that would have greatest impact. And the stagers that he suggested to me were half the price of the top of the line stagers. He told me it wouldn't make a difference to the outcome, and it didn't! I had no doubts at all about choosing him as my realtor. And my decision was a great one! It went splendidly. The entire sale, from start to finish, was handled remotely; I still haven't met Alex in person! He kept me apprised of all goings-on. He was tremendously respectful of my position as owner: his oft-repeated refrain was, 'Now you're the owner and you get the last word, but ...'. He patiently explained anything and everything I inquired about. He had no problem with me choosing my own painter/handyman to work on repairs. He was not offended that I wanted to be in direct contact with the handyman and the stagers, and he paid close attention to his own duties, making me aware of things I needed to know about, or sign, with ample time to spare. There wasn't a single crisis in the whole affair. But the best part was the crafting of the sales strategy. Alex knew the market we were entering extremely well, and knew just how to configure the collection of offers (we were expecting multiples and we got them) to make it simple to make a decision that was fair to everyone involved. Once the window of opportunity for submission of offers closed, we were under contract about 2 hours later with a fabulous, non-contingent offer. Sure, the market this spring has been ideal for sellers but it all could have been a lot messier, with a lot more conflict and stress. Alex's handling of the whole thing made it go very smoothly. In short, Alex and Alamere are knowledgeable, consummate professionals who treat you like a neighbor more than a client, and I wouldn't hesitate for a nanosecond to recommend them for real estate selling or buying in Marin County.
