Thank you for taking time to research me. As I'm certain you are looking at many options, I feel compelled to start with my credentials: I am a full-time associate broker with eXp Realty. I've been blessed and grateful to have been voted by the Rochester Community as the 3X Winner of Best Real Estate Agent - Post Bulletin (the local news) here in Rochester Minnesota. I share this to show that I am as credible, knowledgeable, and experienced as any agent you may be considering. I am actually more proud of having collected over 300 Five Star Reviews on SoTellUs combined from Google, Facebook, and Zillow from Alumni Clients. As you take time to read some of these testimonials, you will find that they speak to my core values of Education, Communication, and Responsiveness - which show in every way of how I run my business and life. My promise to my clients is they will know what to expect, how to operate, and have it all explained in an easy-to-understand way. I want my clients to have a sense of control, which means they will know their options, have it explained simply, and can therefore make the best decisions. When you hire me as your agent, I - Alex Mayer - am your agent. I'm not a team lead that passes clients off to an underling. That means I am the one answering the phone, keeping you informed, and handling the negotiations. I pride myself on being available to my clients - 4 out of 5 times I will answer the phone right away and on the fifth I'll call back quickly. My personal cell is 507-696-7510 and it's the same number I call my mother from. Call or text anytime. On a personal level, I was born in Rochester Minnesota and raised in small town Riceville Iowa. I graduated from Luther College (South on Highway 52) in 2014 and moved up to Rochester shortly after. My mother and sister both work at the local Mayo Clinic so I still get to see them regularly. I am a book worm - a proud member of the Friends of the Rochester Public Library, which I visit 2-3 times a week. I have two Alaskan Malamute dogs, Atlas and Kaia, who are featured on all of my branding from buses to billboards, coasters, and even voice actors on local radio stations. As a memorial, I always mention my first malamute Ayla - who passed in 2022 and whose name I still say every day. Many of my clients will meet the dogs between showings - and have had many sellers request they accompany to appointments. My home also has two cats Vee (an F3 Savannah) and Rylo (a rescue from our local Paws and Claws). I am also a volunteer with Camp Companion - fostering dogs and cats periodically. I am a committed member of the Rochester Community. I attend many local events, have participated in fundraisers, and am on first name basis with the mayor and many city council members. I am also a level 6 Google local guide, so if you are just getting acquainted with Rochester, I have lots to share from restaurants, events, local attractions, and day trips. I'm grateful to this profession as I truly love teaching and seeing the "click" in my client's eyes as they come to a new understanding or perspective. And to my clients, who I'm fortunate enough to serve. And I truly hope to have the opportunity to earn your business as well. Cheers, Alex

FAQ
1. What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?
As a real estate professional who has arguably represented the most buyers in Rochester MN over the last 10 years, the one thing I want every buyer to understand is this: you need a complete picture of what to expect, how to operate, and what needs to be done to be successful as a homebuyer in Rochester MN. When you have clarity, every decision becomes easier. When you know how to operate, you’re taken seriously in negotiations. And when you know what needs to be done, you put yourself in the best position to buy confidently and affordably.
Every buyer I represent gets a thorough overview of the following:
1. Financing clarity.
Understanding your loan options helps you choose the strongest strategy, especially when competing with other buyers.
2. Monthly payment breakdown.
I walk you through principal, interest, taxes, and insurance — the numbers that truly determine affordability.
3. How to approach showings.
How to schedule them, what to look for, and how to navigate homes with recording devices.
4. How to write a strong offer.
How to determine a price that can win while still staying within your comfort zone.
5. What to expect from acceptance to closing.
Earnest money, inspections, appraisal, insurance, and title work.
When you understand the “how” and the “why,” you make smarter decisions, those decisions become easier, and you have a significantly better chance of success as a homebuyer in Rochester MN.
2. What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?
The two things every seller needs to care about in the Rochester MN area are Money and Time — getting the most proceeds possible, and doing it quickly, cleanly, and with the least disruption to your life.
Your home is one of your largest financial assets, and it needs to be treated that way. I show my clients how to position, present, and market their home so it sells fast and for the highest price. And selling quickly matters — especially if you’re living in the home. There’s nothing worse than months of showings, constant cleaning, and scrambling with kids or pets on a two-hour notice.
Success as a house seller in Rochester MN means you need 4 things:
1. A smart pricing strategy.
Pricing is the single most important factor. Mistakes here cost sellers real money.
2. Strong presentation.
Guidance on what to update (and what not to), professional photography, drone, and video that stops buyers mid-scroll.
3. Strategic marketing.
In addition to the basics, I have a proprietary digital marketing system that reaches 40,000–60,000 Rochester MN locals every week.
4. Real negotiation clarity.
Buyers are informed, but also human — emotions run high. Sellers must understand contingencies, timelines, and offer strength to stay in control.
When these pieces are executed correctly, you give yourself the best chance to sell fast and for the most money in the Rochester MN market.
3. What types of clients have you worked with?
Over the last 10 years as a full-time Associate Broker in the Rochester MN area, I’ve worked with nearly every type of client and situation our market presents. My business is built around education, communication, and responsiveness — helping people understand what to expect, how to operate, and what needs to be done to be successful.
Here are the main types of clients I represent in Rochester MN:
1. First-time homebuyers.
My first-time buyers are some of the most informed in the Rochester MN market — my reviews will back that up. I walk them through financing, payments, showings, offers, and the full process so they feel confident, not overwhelmed.
2. Mayo Clinic and other relocating professionals.
Physicians, nurses, students, and researchers moving into Rochester MN who need clarity on neighborhoods, timing, and how our market works. With my online presence, YouTube channel, and referral network, this group makes up a large portion of my business. I’m also a Level 7 Google Local Guide, and several family members work at Mayo Clinic.
3. Move-up and move-down buyers/sellers.
Families needing more space, less space, or a lifestyle change — often coordinating a sale and purchase at the same time. I make that transition manageable.
4. Home sellers wanting skilled marketing and negotiation.
Smart pricing, strong presentation, and advanced marketing — including my digital audience of 40,000–60,000 Rochester locals each week. I have over 16 years of negotiation experience.
5. Estate and inherited property sellers.
Executors and family members who need a clean, efficient sale with clear guidance.
Across all client types, the theme is the same: I help people understand the “how” and the “why” so they can make confident decisions in the Rochester MN real estate market.
4. Describe a recent transaction you are fond of. How did it go?
I’ll share three recent transactions from the last month that highlight how I work, the clients I work with, and the types of results my clients experience here in the Rochester MN real estate market.
1. A Mayo Clinic relocation buyer.
Client called me after reading my reviews, and I met them a few hours later. I gave them the complete picture of what to expect in our Rochester MN market as a home buyer. After touring homes over a weekend, we secured a great deal on a property that fit their needs perfectly.
2. A seller moving out of state for the military.
They needed a clean, fast sale with minimal disruption. By pricing the home correctly and advising on only the updates that mattered, we generated multiple offers in 3 days. They were able to relocate without stress, knowing everything was handled.
3. A buy/sell client building new construction.
I helped this family purchase a new construction home while preparing their existing home for sale. With the right pricing strategy, strong presentation, and my digital marketing system, their listing sold in 2 days for $35,000 over asking. This is a perfect example of how proper pricing and preparation matter.
Across all three situations, my core values — Education, Communication, and Responsiveness — are what make the process smooth and predictable for my clients.
5. How did you get started in Real Estate?
When I graduated from Luther College in 2014, I moved to Rochester MN for a job at Mayo Clinic. I learned quickly that I wasn’t meant to sit in a cubicle. While waiting for my start date at Mayo, I served tables and bartended — and realized how much I enjoyed working directly with people.
I’m an avid reader, and one day at the Rochester Public Library I picked up a book on auto sales. With my background working in a call center through college, I thought I’d be good at it — and I was. I was hired at the top car dealership in Rochester MN, and by my fourth month I became the top salesperson, outselling 15-year veterans.
Within 18 months, I was recruited to the top real estate team in Rochester MN. When that team disbanded in 2018, I went independent and earned my broker’s license in 2019.
In 2021, I was runner-up for Best Real Estate Agent in Rochester MN. That motivated me to win the award in 2022. I’ve since won Best Real Estate Agent in Rochester MN in 2022, 2023, 2024, and – this year - 2025.
Real estate gives me a great deal of fulfillment — it blends service, communication, and guiding people through major decisions. And it turns out, I’m really good at it.
6. Do you have any special education or training that will benefit your clients?
Education is my first core value for a reason, and it has shaped every part of my career and life. I graduated from Luther College in 2014 with degrees in Sociology and Statistics, and to this day I still identify as a socio-statistician. Understanding people, communities, data, and behavior has given me major advantages in negotiations, pricing strategy, and guiding clients in the complex decisions in the Rochester MN real estate market.
I’m a committed autodidact. I read 60–80 books a year, a member of the Friends of the Rochester Public Library, and I invest the equivalent of a liberal arts tuition annually into my own personal and professional development. Over the years, I’ve hired with dozens of coaches, mentors, and high-level training programs across sales, negotiation, marketing, communication, and leadership.
Beyond my own learning, I’ve also taught thousands of real estate agents nationwide in the fields of buyer and seller representation, negotiation strategy, marketing, professionalism, and how to operate authentically. I’m also a co-author of the Amazon Best Seller Top Producer Secrets.
My ongoing education is near and dear to my heart — it's the reason “Education” is the foundation of my business. I am committed to delivering that to my clients every day through the clarity, insight, and real-world human guidance.

The Best Real Estate Agent in Rochester, MN - Buying and Selling! ?Alex Mayer has been our go-to guy since we first started our journey as homeowners. He originally helped us as our buyer's agent for our very first house, and because he's stayed in touch and been so supportive over the years, it was an easy choice to work with him again to sell it. ?The marketing Alex used was next-level. Between the high-quality photos and the video advertising that reached tens of thousands of people, our home was seen by a huge variety of buyers immediately. We actually had an offer in hand within a week! ?Throughout the closing process, Alex was incredibly responsive, explaining every step in plain language so we always knew where we stood. It's also a treat when you get to meet his dogs, Atlas and Kaia--it just adds that personal touch that makes him so easy to work with. We've always recommended Alex for buying a home, but now we'll definitely be adding selling to that recommendation!!!

If you are looking for the best real estate agent in Rochester MN, you definitely need to work with Alex. My wife Melissa and I were referred to him by a friend, and from the very first time we met, he made us feel like we were in great hands. He arranged for us to meet up quickly at a restaurant. I still remember that first meeting vividlyaEUR"what was supposed to be a one-hour chat ended up being three hours! It was basically a crash course on real estate 101. As a first time home buyer, I had lots and lots of questions, but Alex was so personable and patient. He went into great detail about the process upfront and always explained things in plain, easy-to-understand language. He made sure we truly understood all the technical terms and jargon before moving forward. Alex is incredibly communicative and approachable. He gave us his phone number and email right away, and his responsiveness was amazing. He got us set up on the Home Spotter search app, made sure our filters were right, and told us to reach out anytime. Whenever we found interesting houses, he was so good at arranging four to five showings back-to-back on days that worked best for us. It took us about 4 months of looking to find our place, and honestly, his easy-going personality made this arduous process feel like a breeze. Alex is also super well-connected with top-notch industry professionals. He connected us right away with an amazing local lender, Heather, and later set us up with a fantastic inspector and title company. When we finally put in an offer, he guided us step-by-step and expertly negotiated repairs on our behalf after the inspection. Its hard to find someone so trusting and fiercely protective of his clients' interests. As a wonderful bonus, getting to meet his dogs, Atlas and Kaia, brought so much extra joy! Alex would bring them to some of our house showings, and they just spread so much happiness, making the whole process way less stressful. We just closed at Rochester Title on March 10th, 2026, and we truly couldn't have survived this journey without Alex's guidance. Highly, highly recommend! Alex also likes to keep in touch with his clients even after they buy a house to make sure the buyers are satisfied. He is very resourceful, and he is happy to share names of contractors and handy people for after sale small house fixes and home projects. With Alex you get a wonderful realtor, a decent human being, and potentially a long term friend.

There's a reason Alex Mayer is known as the best real estate agent in Rochester, MN. In a quick nutshell, he's a knowledgeable, kind and hard working agent who will help you get your home sold and happily answer any and all questions you might have along the way! Added bonus his two dogs Atlas and Kaia who are every ounce of fluff you see in his ads. Going more in depth I chose Alex after a fair amount of research. I wanted someone who'd handled an estate sale in probate prior. Someone who fully utilized the online aspect of real estate (as let's face it most are deciding which homes they're really interested in based off seeing them online first. And someone who came highly recommended. A quick ask and he was by far the most recommended putting him at the top of my research list. The rest quickly fell away after simply searching his name and reading the reviews. To be clear I read a fair amount of reviews from others whom had hired Alex for their Late loved ones estate sales which was what most other agents lacked. Though if I'm being completely honest I stopped reading reviews and reached out once I read one that informed me if I asked to meet the dogs my wish would be granted. And I can confirm A couple of requests were made and happily granted! Our first meeting was a straightforward walkthrough with a handful of questions prior to sitting down and being thoroughly educated. One of Alex's core values is Education. (his other two are communication and responsiveness. To which he is a great communicator very thorough and he is responsive, I don't think he ever didn't respond right away or at minimum within 30min to an hour. Even when he was out of state with family) You will definitely feel like your his only client even though you aren't! Anyways back to the education portion he will educate you. You will sit down and he will go over everything and explain it all in detail. I decided to trust my gut in hiring him not argue with his pricing recipe because there's an art to it. And the home sold the same day it went on market, by the first showing and they came in above asking (to the top tier we had discussed in our initial meeting.) The rest was fairly smooth sailing (all the bumps weren't anything to do with Alex he handled them all like a pro) We had issues with the buyer's title company, a LOT of them. So much in fact he stated he'd never had anything like this before. But again he handled it all. I would 100% recommend him to anyone looking to hire the best real estate agent. He is personable, trust worthy, laid back, patient and highly knowledgeable. I should also add he is an avid fellow reader and recommended me 3 different books I read while we were waiting to close. Did I mention he comes with 2 big fluffy dogs you can love on? Anyways I have run into quite a long review and if you actually read all that you should probably just click that call button, or send him an email. I promise he won't disappoint.
