ZillowVERIFIEDWhen we decided to list our house, we searched for top realtors in the area and were delighted when Jennifer Wood from Resettle Realty reached out to us. She visited our house, providing straightforward comments and a promising approach. Given Resettle Realty's recent success with a house sale on our street, we felt confident in working with them. However, things took an unexpected turn when Jennifer introduced us to another agent, Aaron Signor, whom she claimed was an experienced negotiator familiar with our area. We assumed he was just another agent within Resettle Realty. Together, we discussed pricing the house $15k below the desired selling price to attract more traffic and multiple offers, which seemed like a solid plan with Aaron's negotiation skills in mind. As the process proceeded, we encountered several issues that left us increasingly frustrated. First, we agreed on commission rates of 3% for the seller's agent and 2.5% for the buyer's agent. However, when the paperwork came in, the rates had been changed to 3.25% for the seller's agent and 2.25% for the buyer's agent, causing concerns about the low buyer's agent rate potentially deterring other agents from showing our house. It took a frustrating afternoon of back and forth to get this issue resolved as we had to fight for the buyer's agents fee and review and send back documents many times due to errors in the contract. To our surprise, it was only when Aaron sent exclusive agency paperwork that we realized we had not signed with Resettle Realty as we initially intended. Instead, we had unknowingly signed with Aaron and Jennifer's other real estate company SBRE, which was not clearly disclosed to us early on. We were not aware Jennifer was associated with multiple real estate companies and given her email and business cards, we assumed we were working with Resettle. As the realtor sign was being installed, we were taken aback when Aaron casually mentioned a romantic relationship between him and Jennifer, which had not been disclosed prior to that moment. This revelation, coupled with the cheaply made sign with their other company's name, left us feeling like we had fallen victim to a bait-and-switch tactic. To add to our disappointment, we discussed holding an open house on Memorial Day weekend, with Jennifer volunteering to pay for a cleaning service before pictures and the open house. Unfortunately, Jennifer later told us that the cost of the cleaning would fall to us. It was a few days before the holiday weekend and we had still not heard from Jennifer or Aaron regarding the listing. After reaching out to them, we finally got things moving, but the lack of communication and attention to detail from Aaron caused additional frustration during this process. It was also at this time that we learned there would be no open house over Memorial Day weekend as Aaron would be on vacation. As the open house was postponed due to Aaron's Memorial Day plans, it was rescheduled for the following weekend. However, it was Jennifer who hosted the open house and not Aaron. Jennifer used Resettle Realty signage while their company signage remained in the yard likely creating confusion for potential buyers, leading to limited attendance. In addition, the open house was barely 2 hours long. Furthermore, despite Aaron's representation as an experienced negotiator, he attempted to push us into accepting an offer $35K below our desired price and $20K below our final asking price. This left us questioning his ability to advocate for our best interests. During the inspection addendum, we were surprised by a request for $1,200 in closing costs, which seemed unrelated to the inspection itself. The lack of itemized details in the request raised suspicions about their intentions, and Aaron's push for us to accept it without proper documentation was concerning. Throughout the process, the lack of transparency and professionalism from both Aaron and Jennifer left us feeling deeply disappointed and frustrated. They seemed more interested in closing the deal quickly than in genuinely serving our best interests. Even the contractually obligated inspection report was never provided despite our requests. Overall, our experience with Aaron Signor, Jennifer Wood, and SBRE was far from satisfactory. We strongly advise against working with them and suggest seeking a more trustworthy and reliable real estate agent who prioritizes transparency, professionalism, and honors the seller agency agreement.
