You can sell your home without your extended family knowing. But if you are married and in the State of Texas your spouse will likely have to sign something at closing. Even if you owned it prior to being married to her, they may want her to sign something stating that the property is not her homestead. Other states may vary, but in most cases I think it would be difficult to keep selling a property from a spouse. Otherwise, your family will only know if you tell them, they see the listing, or if you move. If you are hoping to sell it without it going on the market so your family won't see it, I think you'll have a hard time getting it sold. Just my opinion!
