HI Todd, I'm an agent in your area with over 20 yrs of experience so I am familiar with most of the school districts and their walkability. I currently live in a district where the elementary schools have many walking students. There is no specific requirement to be labeled a "walking school". As the other agents mentioned, calling the schools is helpful, but a lot of times it will depend on where your home is located in relation to the school so even if they say they are a walking school it might not be safe or feasible from all locations. You also have to keep in mind that the elementary schools in the area might be walkable, but once you get to the middle school it might not be. If you are not currently engaged with an agent, I am happy to help you with your home search!
