In his introductory presentation, Zaid gave us a lot of confidence by walking us through the home buying process, sharing facts and explaining his reasoning by backing it up with data, and also answering our questions using his vast experience of the Bay Area real estate market.Zaid paired us with Andrew Mirza as our agent. From the get-go, Andrew was responsive and available almost 24 hours a day to answer any questions we had. He worked with us to narrow down specific neighbourhoods we wanted to look at, connected us with multiple lenders with whom he had worked previously and guided us in refining our criteria for our house. Here is the short and succinct review of our experience working with them: they are amazing, attentive, experienced, and will get you your dream home.During the initial zoom meeting, Derek and Zaid took their time to get to walk us through the home buying process, get to know us, set up MLS search and ask a lot of questions to better understand exactly what we were looking for. Their additional suggestions for narrowing our search area were extremely helpful and allowed us zero in on our desired area. The communication with Derek, Zaid and the entire team including the transaction coordinator Jill was flawless, we never waited for responses whether it was a text, email or phone call --and as first time Home Buyers, we had a lot of questions! Because of covid restrictions, individual appointments had to be made for viewing houses and Derek always set up our appointments right away -- literal minutes, no joke. We in fact joked that his middle name should be Derek 'Lightning Duncan given the speed with which he was able to organize everything. Any question or concern was always greeted with smart, concise, accurate answers and even additional information we hadn't thought to ask.Throughout the process, Derek/Zaid responded to our calls and texts very quickly, with a great attitude and sense of humor - no easy feat given we saw over 25+ homes in 8 weeks. Day 1, Zaid shared what to expect in our house search and shared a lot of information on which neighbourhoods to avoid/look at, ideal budget range for those neighbourhoods, potential lenders, etc. based on our lifestyle and expectations.Touring: Shilpa helped us in touring all the houses we saw and shared what to look at and was curious about our likes and dislikes. Based on that she started suggesting places we might like or not like. But never pressured us into touring or not touring a place. We were also super picky but she was super patient with us all throughout. She was always on time, professional and was accessible very easily over text/call.Closing: Shilpa was a saviour. We had a situation with the lender's appraisal coming really short because the appraisal company did a poor job. We had to get a new lender halfway through the process which delayed the closing by a couple of weeks. Shilpa made sure our closing went through smoothly by constantly communicating with the listing agent and our new lenders and setting right expectations with everyone.Overall, we would strongly recommend Zaid Hanna and the Hanna Group. We have been on the move in the US for last 5-6 years and after moving to Bay Area last year started exploring the option of purchasing a house. We seriously started thinking about it at the start of the year, reached out these guys in late Jan, started seeing houses in Feb and now are homeowners in March!! Few things to keep in mind why this is such a big deal and the fantastic job these guys have done. We had very little knowledge about the market, home buying process and in general it felt like a daunting task. However, my first call with Zaid and Derek just made me feel very comfortable and that I am in safe hands with their years of experience, their connections and their intention in general of helping us along the way, instead of pushing us to buy now. From the first meeting it was clear that Derek will be our go to person for showing and Zaid will support on the data / comp side. Derek was extremely professional, patient, knowledgeable and easy to work with. Three weeks into viewing houses, we loved a house, put our very first bid and went in escrow. Given its a seller market, the bid prices are sometimes insanely high, but we got the house t what I would call a very reasonable but competitive bid. All thanks again to their relationship with listing agent and their pulse on the market. Here again they never pushed us for a bid price but rather showed us the data, their reco and let us decide what we are comfortable with. Anyway, I can keep going on, but the bottom line is, you can fully trust them and dive in to get your dream house. Sushanta has such a great attention to detail, and she really knows her way around the market. She puts an emphasis on making sure her clients purchase the right home, not just any home. Late in our first search, after countless fruitless open house visits, we were ready to put in an offer far above asking for a beautiful but tiny condo, but Sushanta put on her experienced agent hat and convinced us that we would regret vastly overpaying. We submitted a lower offer that was rejected, and the condo ended up selling for even more than our original offer. As Sushanta expected, this was a huge blessing in hindsight because we later found and closed on a much larger condo in a much better location for essentially the same price that we originally were going to pay for the first one.When the time came for us to make the jump to a single family home, we immediately knew we wanted to work with Sushanta again. This time around, she came through same as before despite the world going through Covid-19.
