John sold me my home when I bought it brand new from the builder 12 years ago. Turned out he also bought in the same neighborhood and we ended up as neighbors. Through the years we spent in the neighborhood, we got to know John and the consummate professional he is. We did not have to think about who we would list our house when it came time to sell. Not only is John knowledgable about the local real estate market but he is the best connected person in the business. He has a long list of associates, tradespeople and other professionals available to help in any need.We were relocating and during the process I was out of town commuting to my new job across the country. In this time, my wife often needed help to get the house ready to sell. John was always available to help and kept helping throughout the transaction. When we encountered road bumps, and issues during the sale, John was always there to resolve. We were in the market to get our first home and we engaged with John, as our friends spoke highly of him. They were spot on when they said that John is incredibly patient, courteous and professional. Not at all pushy. What they didnt mention was the depth of real estate knowledge he brings to the table. We were in a market where it was expected of buyers to waive off all the contingencies. In such a scenario you really want an agent who can see beyond the cosmetics and tell you in no ambiguous terms what you are buying, i.e. your big ticket repair items, if you really bought that house. His 35 years of experience in the greater Seattle area market shows when he is able to talk about the nuances of areas, that otherwise you would have only realized after buying the house. For example, we were at an open house with John, and we really liked the house. We asked for his opinion and what he thought about the property? To which he said, do you hear that sound? Turns out there there was a shooting range a mile away, but due to the acoustics of the area one could clearly hear sounds from it. And it was one of those things, that once you hear it you cannot unhear.There were so many instances where John was able to point out things that were unknown-unknowns to us, but once revealed, were essentially deal breakers.Overall John brings invaluable experience to the whole home buying process. Home buying is full of asymmetric information scenarios and you really want someone like John to bridge and fill that information gap.
