We were randomly assigned to Jay when we wanted to view a house we saw on Zillow. That was our lucky day! One of his associates showed us the house and we immediately wanted to make an offer. The conversation basically went as such: "Do you have a pre-approval?" Us: "No, we just decided 5 minutes ago to buy a new house." "Is your current house on the market?" Us: "No, we just decided 5 minutes ago to buy a new house." So we weren't exactly the type of clients who were ready to move forward with a serious offer, or so we thought. We met with Jay and we discussed our relatively impulsive decision to make an offer on a house. We had lots of worries and concerns. First of all, could we even get pre-approved while holding two mortgages (the house we wanted already had multiple offers and making an offer with a contingency would not be viable) and secondly, we had not been the best at home maintenance so our current home needed a lot of help. Jay came through on both of these major concerns. He referred us to a lender who contacted us within the hour (a big banking institution didn't call us back until three days later) and got us pre-approved that evening. As for the preparation to sell the current house, he explained he would arrange for all the work that needed to be done. That sold us, as it usually takes us a month to find someone to do simple repair work such as change a light bulb.Now this is the part that puts Jay into the "exceptional" category. There were multiple offers on the house and Jay made suggestions on how to personalize our offer. His suggestions worked and the seller accepted our offer. We would not be living in this fabulous house if we did not have Jay as our Realtor.Now on to selling our old house. Buying a house is one thing, selling a house is a completely different animal. After 23 years of home ownership, you lose perspective of what is considered "normal." At first we didn't want to spend money to update the house, because 55 year old pink bathroom tiles? They're fine, well, maybe not. Based on Jay's expertise and suggestions we did update the house and the price difference between the pre-updated offers versus the post-updated offers were astounding. Jay was right. Again, thanks Jay for helping us get a great offer.And lastly, Jay is great at knowing when and how to interact with his clients, and how to calm down his clients when they get a little too frazzled. In buying the new house, we (or actually just me) needed daily assurances that the sale was still going forward. Conversely, in selling the house we (again, actually just me) did not want to hear daily updates; they stressed me out. Jay was great in keeping the right amount of contact.I highly recommend Jay and his team. We are so happy in our new home and we are so pleased that we sold the old house. Thanks Jay
