You will not find a better agent in the High Desert than Tom Murtagh. Tom helped us find and secure an amazing second home / short term rental investment property in Joshua Tree. Actually, Tom more than "helped"-- he made it happen.My wife and I are busy professionals located 2 hours away in Los Angeles. I went into this adventure naturally concerned about that challenge of proximity and our limited availability. Tom quickly curbed my anxiety with his responsiveness and willingness to work around whatever day/times we were available. Tom made himself available day or night-- I spoke with him on the phone about properties at 7am and at 10pm. When we weren't available to tour a house, he went and recorded videos for us to download. Despite being highly in demand from other Buyers, he always seemed to make us feel like we were his top priority clients.I knew it was a sellers market going into the hunt, but I didn't know just hot crazy hot the market was. Homes were selling way over listing and selling within days of being listed. To find a home, you need to work with an agent who knows how to navigate through the chaos. Tom knew not only Joshua Tree, but the greater high desert area (Yucca Valley, Morongo Valley, 29 Palms, Landers) and all its neighborhoods/pockets (Desert Heights, Flamingo Heights, Wonder Valley) like the back of his hand. He's been a local for several years who's seen the exponential growth of the market-- and it shows. He's also a seasoned real estate investor with first hand experience in these kind of exploding (gentrifying) markets (i.e. Brooklyn, Los Angeles..). That kind of niche, dual perspective makes Tom a real subject matter expert in this space. Tom not only coached us thru these strategies, he kept us motivated and energized when the going got tough. He's an all around great communicator-- elaborate and detailed where it matters, but always concise and direct. Professional, but down to earth. He's genuine and honest. Those communication skills are also what makes Tom the guy you want representing you. When issues with the home turned up during escrow, Tom expertly resolved it with listing agent by negotiate credits while still keeping the sellers happy. He knew just what to ask for and how to ask for it.I could probably write another page about how beyond satisfied we are to have worked with Tom. Bottom line is I plan to buy more properties in the high desert, and I wouldn't work with any other agent than Tom Murtagh.
