I have always loved watching a home be built, but my mind also loves crunching numbers and finding the right way to manage a deal and make it work for a family. For over 20 years, I have helped my customers not only build new homes, but purchase and refinance homes in and around Hampton Roads and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I've helped over 1000 homeowners with their financing and along the way I've learned a lot about not just the guidelines of different mortgage programs, but how to make such an emotional process as easy as possible on my homeowners. I grew up in Ohio and went to Elon College on a basketball scholarship. While at Elon I started in banking as a teller and was hired by that bank's mortgage training program upon graduation. I spent six months learning from within; I trained with the mortgage processors, underwriters, closers and loan officers. It takes a lot of people to make a loan work, and training in this way made me realize that a mortgage is a team sport, just like basketball. My job as the loan officer is like that of a point guard and without all of the other players, the process will not be as successful. At the end of my training I was transferred to Hampton Roads and quickly fell in love with this beautiful area. The water, the beach, the weather, the military presence, it felt right. Soon after moving here I married my college sweetheart and we now have three young daughters and two goofy dogs. We live near ODU and spend as much time as possible on the water or at a sports field. One of my favorite aspects of this job is meeting and working with so many new people. I've been so fortunate to help so many military families move here from around the world. I have a trusted team that I get to work with each day. I get to be a part of a first time homeowner closing on their new home.
