ZillowVERIFIED Looking at these reviews it seems that my experience with Steve appears to be an anomaly. However, that's very hard to believe based on what I experienced/witnessed. There were lots of errors in the paperwork - on one occasion a mistake which assessed me an addition $700. In addition, once he received the initial deposit, I received a lot of call the HOA yourself or here where you can go to find xyz information, etc. When reviewing the rental that had not been cleaned -- dirty floors, oven, closet with hangers, bathroom items from the previous rental ---- he asked me why I was concerned with all that as that wasn't uncommon in South Florida. That was uncommon to me as that places that I've lived charge penalties when the apartment is not clean and items are left in the apartment. Steve became belligerent as I walked through and identified the either not working, broken, or not right during the apartment walkthrough. In fact, he stormed out. Also, he refused to admit that the air conditioner was not working which I believe he knew prior to me paying my deposits and signing the lease. As a result, I walked in on an 80 plus degree apartment where my pet was in distress. Steve refused to give permission for the air conditioner guy to service the unit for over an hour. During that time, myself, cable guy, and building maintenance witness him yelling and screaming at me over the phone -- even as I alerted him that he was on speaker. After via text, he essentially told me that I had got on the bad side of the wrong person and shared "what are you going to do the next time something breaks in your apartment". That kind seems like a threat to me... I'm still unclear on how to take that. I would not advocate or recommend working with him. Perhaps this was an isolated incident or his professionalism was affected by a life event -- all I can say as I've never been spoken to or talk to by a professional in the manner in which this man spoke to me. Also, he's kind of a big guy so when he got belligerent in the apartment during walkthrough -- it was unnerving and slightly scary. --

Not only is he an accomplished and well awarded Realtor, but he's also a mortgage officer of over 20 years. So for me it was a no-brainer. When I met him I immediately saw why people loved to deal with him. He's friendly, smiley and sharp. He made the paperwork part a breeze by providing e-signature forms for everything. Then, when it was time to get the buyer pre-qualified, I found that Steve was equally skilled at the mortgage process as well. The buyer was approved within 24 hours and then Steve began processing the loan with his amazing loan processor. In about 3 weeks, we were ready to close. ZillowVERIFIED Steve Shalaby handled my loan on a high-end, 4300 sq foot single family home purchase in Wesley Chapel, FL. Steve is in a class of his own, I had an excellent experience - I can't imagine having gone thru that with anyone else. Here are some of key things:(1) I can't remember having to leave him a voicemail, he picked up my call almost all the time. He was very, very thorough. Nothing fell the cracks.(2) My situation/loan had some complexities and Steve navigated them seamlessly. Right off the bat he gave me my options, and told me what he'd do if he was in my place, and in the end he was spot on.(3) Steve's team was top-notch as well, his loan processor was awesome and lightning fast. She updated my loan with my docs as soon as she received them, and followed-up with the lender on a timely basis. Well worth the cost...If you are buying a luxury or high-end home, I really recommend Steve - he's an expert at what he does and knows all the in's and out's to the mortgage industry- someone you can trust and will serve you like you're his only customer.

ZillowVERIFIED Even after a reduction in interest, we were unable to make mortgage payments and about to give up and let our bank foreclose and take our home (on the advice of an expensive lawyer who said declare bankruptcy, then move out) My husband got a mailer from Steve and I said "forget it, we have had no success, so far, why would this be different?" Well what was different was STEVE SHALABY!Steve helped us do all the paperwork step by step, and then went with us to the mediation that the fancy lawyer said was a waste of time. The bank refused to accept our offer, and I cried knowing we would lose our house. BUT Steve said wait a few days. He was right, the bank agreed to reduce the amount we owed by $40,000.00 so we could break even on the reverse mortgage and stay in our home. Steve held my hand throughout all this stressful time and I cannot say enough how much it meant to me to have him fight for us. His service is personal and his attention was appreciated. Such a great guy. We did recommend him to our neighbors, who had a high interest loan. They are very happy to have found Steve too- their loan is now $500.00 less a month. I know they in turn recommended Steve to another neighbor. Good news travels fast as does Steve.
