Broker/Realtor Specialties: Buyer's Agent, Listing Agent "No hour of life is wasted that is spent in the saddle." - Winston Churchill Sandy Sandy Savage, Broker-Owner at Carolina One Realty, has always had an affinity for horses and adventure. "I've been a horse person since I was 8 years old," she smiles. Sandy's love for horses began when her grandfather sent her to horse camp at the age of 8. Small in stature but big in spirit, Sandy would always run to the biggest horse in the stable. "I was the smallest kid at camp riding the tallest horse. At the end of the session, there was a horse show, and I won the blue ribbon. I was hooked on horses," she reminisces. Her love for horses only grew, and by the time she was 16, she worked at an ice cream shop to save up for her dream horse. Her persistence paid off, and eventually, she found herself with a show horse, marking the start of a lifelong passion. Over the years, Sandy's dedication to equestrian sports led her to impressive accomplishments, including placing 3rd out of the top 30 amateurs in the country at the Washington International Horse Show. That same year, she was offered the opportunity to compete at Madison Square Garden, a prestigious event, though she ultimately decided against it due to the costs involved. Horses didn't just shape her life on the show circuit--they also introduced her to her husband, Bob Savage, a skilled trainer. Together, they run a 26-acre horse farm and travel up and down the East Coast for shows. "My husband still trains my horses. I couldn't imagine competing without him," Sandy says. "We had a horse farm when we lived on Long Island, too." Before her career in real estate, Sandy was a land-use consultant on Long Island, representing developers in zoning and planning meetings. When she moved to North Carolina, she planned to continue in land-use consulting. But, as demand for her services waned, she shifted gears, earning her real estate license in 2006 with the goal of helping developers bring new projects to the area. To her surprise, her sales career took off, and she hasn't looked back since. Now, with over 18 years in the industry, Sandy is not only a top producer but also a respected Broker-Owner at Carolina One Realty. She has a small but dedicated team, including her licensed assistant, Ryann Stewart, whom she describes as her "right hand." Sandy specializes in equestrian properties, new construction, residential homes, and land sales. She's currently working on new home construction at Chapel Ridge, a golf course community, and Ridge Crest Estates, a new 29-lot development that draws upon her extensive background in building and land planning. Because of her skillset, she's able to provide a unique expertise in real estate, such as assessing land for development or the specialized needs for horse farms. "Not many REALTORS(R) can truly read a survey," she says. "I have drawn a survey. I have developed land and built homes." Horse lovers can rejoice with Sandy as their REALTOR(R). "If you're looking for a horse farm, you need to know that they need a certain number of gallons of water each day. You also have to know what the soil should look like, and how much room you need to build a riding arena and how it should be constructed." Sandy's competitive spirit, honed through years of horse shows, serves her well in real estate. "I'm passionate about helping people and winning the best deals for my clients," she says. "Real estate is like window shopping for beautiful homes. It's rewarding, and I get to help my clients achieve their dreams." Her success hasn't come without hard work and dedication, traits she credits to her upbringing. "I always wanted more than what my parents could give me, so I had to work for it," she reflects. When she's not working, Sandy is often caring for her horses, working on her farm, or attending horse shows. Her Sheltie, Wendell, is her loyal companion, and she says, "He makes me smile." Sandy and Bob also own five horses, including two show horses and three retirees. Her most prized horse is named "What About Me," a beautiful Dutch Warmblood mare she purchased in Wellington, Florida. For Sandy, horses are more than just animals--they are family. "The bond between a horse and rider is like no other," she explains. "You feel each other's emotions and work together toward a common goal. Horses are my why." With her background in equestrian sports, land-use expertise, and competitive drive, Sandy Savage has not only blazed a trail in the real estate world but also built a thriving career that merges her passions. As she continues to excel at Carolina One Realty, Sandy's story is a reminder of the power of a solid work ethic, coupled with drive and determination. Real estate is like window shopping for beautiful homes. It's rewarding, and I get to help my clients achieve their dreams."
