The consolidation process required some planning, but it was straightforward. After evaluating the details together, they decided to move forward with the purchase. The property gave them the flexibility to design the type of home and yard they had imagined for their growing family. While they worked through the legal steps of the lot consolidation and had building plans prepared and approved, I offered to help them rent out the property. We placed a tenant in the home for a year so the property could generate income. During that time, we met several times to review the architectural plans and discuss layout decisions. My role was to help them think through future resale considerations. Even when clients are building a forever home, it is wise to ensure the floor plan will appeal to future buyers if life circumstances change. Construction has now started. Their new home should be ready in about ten months. It will sit on a beautiful, unusually large parcel in one of Los Altos’ most desirable neighborhoods.
