1) What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?
Find someone you can connect with and feel comfortable. Interview the Realtor and ask about how will they provide ongoing expertise to help you through the entire transaction, from the initial interview, analysing financing options, finding a lender with the most advantageous financial terms for your mortgage financing (this alone could save thousands), providing a comparative market analysis on the home you decide to buy, negotiate the best price, and navigate the many complexities involved in finding, buying , and closing your new home.There is also home inspection and radon test considerations that the agent should be able to advise and to provide three recommendations for any type of related services. In the end, find someone with tried and true experience.
2) What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?
This is entirely different from buying a home. The marketing and exposure needed today to achieve the highest price and generate the most interest is very different from broker to broker. This is where creative marketing, maximizing exposure through all available web presence, photography and video are key components. Today you can't just have a couple open houses and put a home on MLS. The presence of mass aggregators like ZIllow, Trulia, and Realtor.com are being dominated by groups of highly skilled professionals who operate like special ops (Navy Seals) can make an enormous difference. In our group, The Pemberton Homes Team we have professional photographers, interior designers (staging), on staff Real Estate attorney, graphic design, social marketing specialist, complete list of suppliers and vendors and handymen. This is a partial list of the ways our group has become known as the “Go To†Realtors.
3) What types of clients have you worked with?
I've worked with all age groups and virtually all types of home buyers and sellers. In the past this has ranged from first time buyers to multi-million dollar buyers and sellers. I've sold farms, acreage, investment real estate, and commercial real estate.
4) Describe a recent transaction you are fond of. How did it go?
I had a month, July 2017, where I sold a home for $79,900 and another for $3 Million. With both home sales the end result was the same - smiles and grateful clients.
5) How did you get started in Real Estate?
My wife and I had purchased our first home at the age of 20, and then bought an acre of vacant land to add to our real estate empire; the house was $12,500 and the land was $7500. I worked for Rj Reynolds in Michigan, where I grew up, and my wife, Pam, and I decided to move to a healthier employment and business climate and chose the Twin Cities. I interviewed with a couple fortune 500 companies and came to the realization that I wanted to work for myself and reap the rewards of my efforts. No one would tell me to work 40 hours and go home. We had recently sold the home and land and doubled our money, so naturally we assumed real estate would be the perfect career. It was nothing as easy as it seemed. We worked 3 years with only the four major holidays off otherwise we worked 361 days, and we didn't take a vacation for 6 years. As it turned out, it has been a joy and privilege to work for so any wonderful people and to play such a big part in the lives of thousands of families we've come to represent.
6) Do you have any special education or training that will benefit your clients?
Yes, I have an extensive education in real estate matters. I've added many graduate level courses, conferences, and seminars to continue my education. I've been interviewed on the radio and featured on TV for my expertise in real estate. I hold numerous professional designations including: CRS, Certified Real Estate Specialist, only 2% of Realtors hold this designation, GRI, Graduate Realtors Institute, CDPE, Certified Distressed Property Expert, SREA, Super Real Estate Agent (15 consecutive years) by Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine and Minnesota Business, and a former Certified Real Estate Appraiser.

My husband and I were thinking of relocating back to Minneapolis. While on holiday, we arranged an appointment with Lydia to see a loft in the North Loop area.
