About Me:
I have been buying and investing in real estate for well over a decade now and I truly enjoy the entire process from top to bottom, start to finish, demo down to completion. Ultimately, my years of experience--with renovations and investing--led me to becoming a Realtor. Being a successful Realtor (for nearly a decade) has allowed me the opportunity to help a multitude of families through the home buying/selling process.

In addition to investing, I'm a residential Realtor with the Realty Executives. I've earned numerous awards that include: Double Diamond Award 2012-19, Top 1% Sales, Scottsdale 40/40 winner, Realty Executives "Top 100" Units Award, and I have successfully sold over 100,000,000 in residential real estate over a 9 year career.

Military:
Previous to my real estate career, I served with 1-21 INF, 2 BDE, 25th IN DIV as an infantry officer in the US ARMY while stationed in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Deployed to Iraq from 2010-2011 for both Operation Iraqi Freedom & Operation New Dawn.

Education:
Currently, I'm a degree candidate at Harvard University (ALM; Management '21) while holding an MS from Central Michigan University and a BLA from Georgia Southern University. Additionally, I hold graduate certificate(s) in Lean Six-Sigma from Villanova University, Project Leadership from Cornell University, and the CORe credential from Harvard Business School.

Personal:
My wife and I have two small boys and we enjoy touring our beautiful state, fishing, golf, and doing walks with our loyal little dog Tom-Tom.

I rented a unit that was personally owned by Matthew. (He owns tons of individual units). I spoke with him about my ESA and that I loved that I had a yard for my dog. He stated that the Astroturf would be perfect for a dog since I can "hose the yard down". I was so excited to move in. After I moved in a realized there was a MASSIVE fly infestation and asked Matthew to handle it. He never did. I also had told him I had mail for him that he never picked up. He was so unresponsive for most of my 1 year stay. Toward the end of my 1 year lease we discussed that he would be more than happy to maintain the same monthly rent price and he would send me an updated lease. I got concerned when I didn't receive the lease and send him a text. He then stated out of the blue that he was "selling" the unit. This was all a lie. He wanted to raise my rent and knew that he already had a written agreement with me. From there I decided that I didn't want to do business with a shady landlord that refused to acknowledge the fly infestation and the horrific smell in the back yard. Matthew came to show the unit to potential new tenants and turned my ac all the way up to 79 degrees. (I am a stroke survivor and CANNOT handle heat higher than 73 degrees). He also left the front door open during his showing which added to the temperature and and let tons of flies in. Once I moved out I requested to be present for the Move out inspection and he never allowed me to do that. (which is my right). He told me I would have my deposit sent to me in the mail within 10 days which is stated in my lease. On the 10th day at almost 10 pm I sent a text asking where the money was. He stated he NEVER sent it in the mail and he could send it electronically if I preferred. He then sent me a bill of $600 to replace the turf that had NO DAMAGES. I even spoke with his contractor that does the inspections and he stated ON VIDEO that there were no damages and he would report that to Matthew. I told Matthew that I should not be responsible for the turf as I did nothing to affect it and got no response. For someone that is a long time real estate agent he should know better than to own a house and remove the hand rails. That is very illegal and against code, which he has done to 3 units in this complex alone. This man states that he is a "family man" but in reality he is greedy, only cares about his money, and has zero motivation to make any repairs or put in any effort with his properties. He just sits back and collects his money.

I went to one of his apartments for rent and we agreed to meet up at 11am. I drove 30+ minutes and I arrived but I had difficulty finding the exact apartment. I called him and it rang twice then voicemail. I texted him telling him I'm here and to call me since I'm a little lost. It was a gated community so I wasnt allowed in without him, and so I called him several more times and again, rang a couple times then voicemail. After 1 hr of being there I realized I was played and I left. Still no contact 24 hrs later. I'm very disappointed.

I met Matthew Long in September 2018 when I was starting my home search. I went through a lot of viewings and Matthew was extremely patient and diligent all throughout the process. When I finally found the right place we had all the paperwork in order and were able to submit a competitive bid - after a few back and forth with the seller we had a deal!
