Matt’s journey into the real estate industry is different from most. Ever since he was a kid, he’s been fascinated by homes, floor plans, and watching neighborhoods take shape. He got hooked on home improvement shows and HGTV early on. After moving to San Diego in 2000, he passed the state licensing exam and got his real estate license. He also got his foot in the door as a receptionist at a busy real estate office. That entry-level role gave him behind-the-scenes insight into negotiations, timelines, and how real estate really works. That company quickly recognized Matt's strong work ethic, integrity, and desire to improve things. He moved from part-time to full-time receptionist, then into the company’s corporate relocation department. But it didn’t take long for him to realize that being out in the field and working directly with people was where he thrived. He soon became a highly respected transaction coordinator, managing files for hundreds of agents across San Diego County. He started in Carmel Mountain, then added Scripps Ranch, and eventually expanded into Rancho Bernardo and Chula Vista. He also earned broker-designee status and was responsible for reviewing contracts and ensuring compliance for three of the company’s offices. When the market shifted in 2007 and layoffs swept through the industry, Matt turned challenge into opportunity. He joined a larger company with an office in Tierrasanta and launched his own independent TC business, consulting with outside agents across the county while continuing to support the Tierrasanta office he had called home. A year later, that office laid off most of its staff and eventually closed its doors. Many of the agents encouraged Matt to stay with and join them, jokingly saying, "You're already licensed and know more than us, so you might as well be one of us." That moment changed everything. Being laid off was the push he needed to take the leap. He’s never looked back.
