And aside from the emotional connection each house brings as you envision raising a family in, we wanted it to be an informative and educated decision. Mat helped facilitate that process. We learned so much with each house that we saw. Mat helped us understand many aspects of a house that we had no prior knowledge of including the quality of the build, key foundational aspects of the house, basements/flooding/drains, and so many other key factors that you should consider when buying a home. He is an expert in this field. He understands the housing market, the value of the property and negotiates with your best interest in mind, which is an understated part of the process when youre at the stage of making offers and negotiating the fair price of the property. He has everything you could want in a realtor - great attitude, a ton of applicable experience, endless patience, connections to everyone, and he'll be aggressive for you in a really strategic way. He'll go the extra mile, time and time again.This guy knows what he's doing from a real estate perspective, but is also a fantastic advisor and coach. We worked with him in a very challenging housing market, but he negotiated our home purchase in Bergen County for 150k under asking. His first piece of advice was to come out and get a feel for the area(s) we wanted to consider and the more we searched, the more we relied on his insight and expertise to guide us through one of the most challenging markets. Preparing a house for sale, even in great condition can be a lot. Before I even signed the contract to secure Mats services, he called the town to confirm what was needed to secure the certificate of occupancy. Changing out smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in certain locations of the home. He let me know how many to purchase. My next question was do you have a recommendation for a handyman to install the detectors? Mats reply. You buy. I'm your guy! Just let me know when you have them. Ill take care of it! Within 4 days our schedules were coordinated to complete this task. It was completely neatly, with ease and professionally. Mat brought his own tools and gave of his time to complete this necessary task.... all before I signed the contract to secure his services. I was sold! We couldnt have been more pleased with Mathew during our very stressful and rocky road. And a rocky road it was! As newlyweds with a low budget and a rather long list things we had wanted in our house, Mat had a big task in front of him. After many open houses and scheduled visits we had gotten the call from him to see what looked like the perfect house. Once we had gone though the house for the first time we had told Mat, this is the one. After many houses had fell through or did not work out we were not getting our hopes up just yet. ZillowVERIFIED Mat is awesome all the way around ! Being a first time home buyer I was skeptical. I needed a reason to not rent anymore , a reason to actually pay taxes and all the extras that actually come along with owning a home . I heard so many horror stories from my friends , but something in my gut was telling me to go for it. I was looking on and off for about 2 years . But until Mat found me , I didn't find a realtor that I felt I actually could confide in and depend on . I started searching on Zillow as most do , met 4/5 realtors for random showings . But it all just felt like I was just another person going through the formalities and then to never really hear anything again or be taken seriously that I actually wanted to clean out my bank account and purchase my first home . To me that was a big deal ! I didn't have a huge budget so I felt that's why alot of realtors didn't give me the time of day but , from the minute I met Mat , even just on the first phone call I could tell he actually cared ( especially with his enthusiastic Australian accent) . I wasn't just another person to him . He took an account of what was important to me and took the time to show me the best options and the not so great options at my request. He truly kept his eye open for me. Not to mention he went above and beyond if I had my heart set on something and saw a vision beyond the house that needed a full Reno and had mold in the basement . He actually took the time to reach out to a professional to see how much remediation would cost and the whole nine. I could go on and on. From the beginning Mat guided me from applying for a mortgage to retaining my attorney and home inspections and all . I wouldn't have had a clue as to how this whole thing worked if it wasn't for him . I could not have come across someone more dedicated to bring my dreams to reality. And it didn't stop with getting the key , we still keep in touch today . Take a chance and throw that boomerang as far you can with Mat Chapman .
