ZillowVERIFIEDIf you are going to travel 1000 miles by boat and you have the choice of sailing on a 35 sail boat or a 1000 ocean-going cruise ship, and either one will cost the same money, you will probably pick the cruise ship every time. With realtors you are faced with a similar choice. Real estate commission percentages are pretty standard across the range of realtors out there. Whether you choose your brother-in-laws friend who has been in real estate for 2 years or go with a full service experienced realtor, the commission you will pay should you succeed in selling your home will be pretty similar. The real difference comes in which choice will more likely result in actually getting your house sold for a fair price. After a painful and unsuccessful attempt with a less than fully capable firm, we turned to the cruise ship of realtors in the Triangle area, ReMax One Realty, owned by Marti Hampton. I surveyed several firms in the area by internet, and then personally interviewed three firms. Rebekah Brock of Marti Hampton agency came to our home, explained the capabilities of the firm, gave me an honest assessment of our homes strengths and weaknesses, and provided a realistic assessment of its value. Once we made the decision to go with Marti Hampton, all of the processes and resources that Rebekah had promised came into play. We received expert advice on staging our home from their designer; professional photography, including 3-D virtual tour and doll-house view of our home; social media exposure; contacts with building trade people to help us with projects that needed to be completed; and weekly updates and strategy discussions with Rebekah, our listing realtor. We had twenty showings of our house and ultimately an offer. Once we accepted an offer, Stephanie Harrington took over our account as realtor/closing coordinator. She handled all of the details from signed contract to close, which in our case was a little more complicated than usual. She handled everything with the calm and professionalism of an air traffic controller. At the same time, Marti Hampton deployed a second team of Daphne Wall and Barbara Kingston to help us find and close on our new home. I already had been looking on line for our next home, so the area and type of home we were looking for had been refined. With Daphnes help we were able to locate our new home, sign a contract, and then work with Barbara to close the new home three days after the closing on the sale of our previous home. I will admit, I am no ones idea of the ideal customer. I am in the details and can be at times over the top in pushing for information and follow-up. I have taken the time to explain my experience with Marti Hamptons firm because they are the real deal. Listen to me... if you need to sell your home and you cant afford to have a false start,... if you want a firm that will get you a fair return on your home rather than secretly hope it doesnt sell so that they can take it off your hands at a aEURoewhole saleaEUR? price, then I highly recommend Marti Hamptons agency.
