ZillowVERIFIED Mark did an excellent job overall in assisting with the purchase, especially given I was living overseas at the time, and could not visit directly. From taking thorough walkthrough videos, to coordinating with lenders and the other parties involved. There were various complications throughout that were no fault of his - the owner had to make some repairs in various areas, there were complications with overseas notarization, etc - but he was there every step of the way to assist and keep things moving forward. Although no heavy negotiation was involved, he did quash a last minute compensation request from the seller, which was appreciated. A long-time island resident, he is very familiar with the various neighborhoods on the island, and various service providers - particularly in Central & Upcountry Maui and the Northshore. For example, when evaluating potential properties, he would often be able to provide input about the current owner and the backstory - whether a property had mold issues, generated good rental income, etc. This greatly accelerated the process and was invaluable "insider" info. I would certainly work with him again, both for his professionalism and charm and affability, both prior to this particular purchase, and afterwards. He clearly puts a premium on building long-term relationships with his clients.

We are on the mainland so we played touch and go with Mark through the years about homes. FF to today. For us, his extensive experience was pushed to the limits, we had a special circumstances sale that went through the courts. Regardless, I just want to say, they do things differently here on Maui than they do in California thats for sure and not speaking about the court part either. ZillowVERIFIED If you are on the mainland looking to buy on Maui you already know it's not an easy task. We work full time, two teenagers, so finding the right realtor was key. We got lucky with Mark. It took us almost 2 years to find our house. We started, gave up, and started again. Mark was absolutely the best through the whole process. Very available, extremely knowledgeable, patient with first time buyers (I had lots of questions), and knows his community. 9 out of 10 houses i was interested in Mark knew the owners, celebrated New Year's there, or whatever....which meant he could save us huge amounts of time. Then there's the negotiations. He works hard for your bottom line. He also follows through. That means a lot.

ZillowVERIFIED Mark worked with my son and me to find a larger house (4 bed/3 bath) in Makawao. I live in Oregon and could not travel at the time. Mark communicated with me to keep me up to date throughout the whole process. After seeing multiple houses with my son, he called to say 'This is the first house we have seen that I am excited about-perfect fit for your tall son". It was bank owned, so a little trickier but he is a tough negotiator. This is where your realator makes you money! Mark also knew of the developer who had made a previous offer which had been rejected by the bank. He was able to negotiate a price 15,000 below the previous offer - which was accepted. On closing day our house was up $75,000 from what we paid. Very sweet! If you have not looked for property in Maui - you are in for sticker shock and lots of competition - new listings can be 20-40 views on day 1 and most offers are for cash so mobility is imperative. Mark's years of work on Maui, means he really knows people, the different parts of the island, microclimates prices and problem areas. He returns phone calls and emails immediately - and will tell you his honest opinion of a house. Very pleasant, patient and professional.

ZillowVERIFIED Mark Morris is a rather remarkable individual. I am 79, and I do not think that I have ever gotten to know a more responsible person. We retain Mark as our realtor to buy a home in Maui. We lived in California, so I was not available in Maui to sort out various issue that developed along the way. The property had potential legal issues, so he suggested an attorney that we could retain. We did so. Mark worked with the attorney to sort out the legal issues. Mark was very aggressive in getting the best deal regarding the purchase price, and he was successful in doing that. During the disclosure period it was found out that some buildings on the property may not have been permitted. Mark went to the county office and found the various building permits. It was then that we found out that everything had been permitted. Since the sale of the property has closed, he has continued to be a very helpful source of information. I thoroughly recommend him, particularly for those who do not live in Hawaii.

We are new to the island so he had to be patient and inform us about a lot of things we did not understand or know, and the result was we found the right home. The transaction was long and complicated due to problems with the lending company, but Mark stuck with us and closed the deal. Mark gave us advice on financing and other issues, most of which we agreed with, but on the lender, we decided not to take his advice and Mark was correct, and our choice did inconvenience us significantly. I believe it would have been a much smoother transaction if we would have taken Mark's advice. However, in the end we were successful and Mark helped make our dream of living on Maui come true. I would strongly recommend Mark for help with buying or selling a home on Maui.

ZillowVERIFIED Mark sacrificed a big piece of his life to help my husband and I find a house and micro-climate that would be a great match for us. He worked intensely for 13 months on our behalf. It is not possible in this small space to express the depth and breadth of his efforts but I will highlight a few. He showed us nearly the whole island, helping us think about what kind of climate and lifestyle each area could provide, from the warm beach resort lifestyle of the south side of the island to the cooler quiet upcountry and to the gardeners paradise of Haiku. He showed us houses in Kahului, Paia/Sprecks, by the beaches of Kihei, in the gated communities of Wailea, golf course houses, horse country houses, and land to build on. He researched and answered thousands of questions and looked into thousands of details for us. He may not want it advertised, but he even enlisted help from his partner to video some houses so that we could view them from Oregon. He reconciled husbands wants with wife's desires and that wasn't easy! He put in offers on many properties and negotiated, despite our waffling, until at last we all managed to close (if you get the idea that we weren't the world's easiest clients, you may be right). He is competent, patient and extremely hardworking. We were very fortunate to have him for our agent. He's really a treasure and tops in my book!!
