ZillowVERIFIED If you plan on buying or selling your home in Los Angeles, you do need a real estate agent. You need the best you can get, not a friend who is an agent or an informal referral. But the best you can find. Earlier this year we interviewed four real estate agents, all of them were good. But we selected the best real estate agent we could find, Maggie Ding and her team at Compass. Maggie assigned Gina to us as a dedicated agent. Gina was excellent. Maggie told us that if we wanted to sell our home, we needed to do everything she and Gina told us to do, and that we wouldnt like some of their guidance. She was right, we didnt. But we decided that as we entered into a contract for Maggie to sell our home, then we needed to let her sell our home and keep our interference to a minimum. There was a complete deep cleaning, a full painting, then staging which required us placing most of our furniture into storage. But the place really looked so much better when it was ready to put on the market. It made us realize that the directions and guidance instructions Maggie and Gina provided were necessary if we wanted to attract buyers, sell our home, and it would have been a mistake not to follow them. Because we ultimately settled on a new build, the purchase process was somewhat more truncated/simplified since we were dealing directly with the builder. Although Maggie & Gina did their part flawlessly, they didnt have the opportunity to flex their professional muscles, as it were. Flash forward to years later when we decided to sell said home and relocate. Re-engaging Maggie was a no-brainer, but this time, we would need her assistance with every aspect of the sale process from beginning to end. We had high expectations, but Maggie and her team still managed to exceed them at every turn. Maggie was handling many other listings (as I'm sure is the norm) at the same time as ours, but she always made us feel like we were a priority. Selling a home is much less fun than buying one, but she and Jaime held our hand all throughout and made the process a lot less painful than it wouldve been otherwise. Maggie was equal parts cheerleader and taskmaster when helping us prep our house for market. Id be remiss if I didnt mention that Maggie and Jaime have referrals for every home-related service one can possibly needaEUR"for reference, we used their preferred vendors for carpet replacement, gardening, and moving. She was very sympathetic for my loss and able to answer the numerous questions I had as a first time seller. Personally I wanted to handoff as much as I could since I wasnt local and Maggie was happy to take that on. This included getting estimates and coordinating the renovations needed with vendors. With that in mind, I will put aside my intense desire to write 100,000 words and instead limit this to three paragraphs: When my sisters and I first contacted Maggie about selling our mothers house, we were overworked, demoralized, and dispirited. We were trying to organize things while living in four different cities that are a fair distance apart. We honestly felt sorry for whoever would end up taking us on as a client. But Maggie was having none of this. Within minutes of knocking on our door for the first time, she had infused the house and everyone in it with optimism and energy. She jammed so much knowledge, experience, compassion, zeal, rapid-fire intelligence, and murderous hilarity into a one-hour presentation that it served to raise our spirits and our expectations from the floor to the ceiling. Then she spent the ensuing weeks exceeding all of those elevated expectations and delivering on every single promise that she had made. During this remarkable period, nothing and nobody escaped her attention. She (and her splendid assistants Stefanie, Gina, and CJ) constantly kept us informed. She provided expert guidance and instruction on a thousand different things. She followed up relentlessly. Not content to answer every question we had, she anticipated questions we had not yet come up with and answered those too.
