The time had come for me to move out of Santa Barbara. I had a nice low end condo in Carpinteria that was a bit tired, and I wanted to get the most equity as I could out of it so I could fund a new purchase elsewhere. I had been an acquaintance of Lauren for a few years via SBYPC, and found her knowledgeable, intelligent and motivated, so I thought she would be a good option to advise me on what I needed to do to get it ready for sale, and then find the best buyer for the property. Little did I know! Her design expertise made it clear that not only should she list and sell my condo, but she became my primary interior designer on the project as well. This was not a small project either. It involved a complete bathroom remodel including tiling the shower, floor, new vanity and new lighting; entirely new kitchen with new cabinets, counter space, floor tile, laundry area, appliances and pantry; modernized fireplace hearth and mantel, and new paint and floor covering everywhere. When it hit the market, we had a buyer within weeks, and one who absolutely fell in love with the place. We got nearly $100k more than the estimate of value in the condo's original form prior to renovation, and nearly $50k more than the nicest similar sale previous to mine. I would give a enthusiastic recommendation to anyone for them to use Lauren to help them buy or sell their property. Although my condo was worth under $1m, she treated the transaction as if it were a $10m property.
