It was overwhelming at first learning about how crazy the market was and how much homes were going for. I met with John and his partner Hannah on a whim in January. I was still trying to figure out if I could even afford a house and was clueless about what I wanted in a home or even the neighborhood I wanted to live in. Hannah offered to show me a few places and I was immediately hooked in the hunt to find a home! Hannah was kind, patient and definitely held my hand throughout the entire process. She talked me off the ledge more times than I can count and didnt hold it against me when I made every new buyer faux pax I could have made. As a single lady trying to make her way in the world and buying a home for the first time, guidance from a team of experienced professionals was exactly what I needed. They were available by text, email, FB message, Instagram like or phone call through EVERY STEP of the way. John and Hannah went above and beyond and I appreciate every gesture from going with me to my signing as well as giving me my first housewarming gift. I cant thank them enough for making a stressful and discouraging experience into something wonderful and pretty much painless (even if I broke Hannahs hand in the process). Also, I am excited to have two new friends out of the deal :)

John was our buying agent for our NE Portland home search in 2012. We had been casually looking for over a year and had met him at an open house at which his team was the sellers agent. As we became more serious in our search, we started talking to friends and meeting with their realtors to try to find a fit for this exciting process. After meeting with 3 or 4 realtors, we kept talking about that John guy we met a year ago. He was just so sincere. We decided to give him a call, and I honestly think it was the best decision we could have made. I often wonder how John does what he does, seriously. Weve been in our house over three years now, and I still wonder. When he is with you, you get his total, undivided attention. I never even noticed him texting someone back, let alone answering a phone call. Yet, whenever Ive called or texted, his response time has been insanely fast. Id guess that texts are returned on average within 10 minutes and phone calls are within 45 minutes. How is that possible? We never felt pressured or like he was trying to sell us on a house we didnt like. After maybe 3 months of dedicated searching, we found the house, our house! And, he was a rockstar in negotiations. He found ways to appease the seller without having us offer more! And, he was meticulous in noting any problems to his eye, was present for the entire inspection, and ensured the inspector was looking at everything hed seen. We knew we were going to have to deal with some grading, drainage issues in the backyard. During escrow, it started pouring one day. The sellers were already out of the house, and we wanted to see how the basement fared with this kind of torrential rain. So, we drove over to the house, and as we pulled up, there was John. We hadnt told him we were going over there, but he apparently had the same thought we did. It turned out the basement was fine, and we had the most attentive realtor ever. Now, I often call or text him to run any renovations or upgrades we are thinking of doing by him. He is so receptive, and pops by to discuss the re-sale value impact of any of our possible choices. I recommend him to friends all the time, and he has worked just as hard to get them into the houses of their dreams too! I really cant recommend John Powers highly enough! We will use him for all our home sales and purchases in Portland.

John helped my husband and I find our house three years ago and it was a wonderful experience. John has a way of finding out your most important wants and finding them in your perfect home. We had what you could call crazy or difficult sellers and it couldve made for a very unpleasant experience. John was able to nagivate and negotiate the sale so both the sellers and our needs were met. We have recommended John to multiple friends and they all have reported great experiences. We will definitely be going back to John and his team for our next house!
